9/6/05 am update
Dear Friends,
The mercies are new this morning! We awoke to our Father's songs and to the fact that Rick is still breathing, his heart is still beating, and he is still on this planet, accomplishing the purposes God has for him! There is no new news at this point in time, but hopefully by the afternoon we can tell you specifics.
Last night we gathered with friends and family under the gazebo in the courtyard of our hotel. It was a beautiful night filled with beautiful, earnest prayers lifted to our Father. Many moments during our prayer time, I found myself looking into the sky and feeling...literally feeling...the many, many prayers that were being offered at the same time. I just imagined how that pleased our Lord! Thank you to the hundreds and thousands of you who joined us in mind and spirit last night. We are eternally grateful!
I wanted to inform/remind you of a few things. First thing- the benefit concert for Rick. It IS happening and is scheduled for September 16th at Stonecreek Church in Alpharetta. There are rave cards with all of the information on them that hopefully soon we will be distributing. It is going to be an amazing night. We are still praying that Rick will be able to be in attendance!
Secondly, a friend of the family, Kelly Moreton, has ordered orange rubber bracelets with "Pray for Rick" etched on them and is selling them as a fundraiser for Rick and his expenses incurred. They are being sold for $5 each. If you'd like to order one, or if you have any questions, you can email Kelly at pray4rick@hotmail.com.
Third and final... don't forget to keep giving platelets! They have been overwhelmed by the amount of people who have donated thus far. Each time we go to the blood bank, at least 3 nurses and other office staff have to tell us what an amazing group of people you are, and in turn, what an amazing young man Rick must be! So thank you for reflecting the light of Christ in this way!
We will keep you updated.
His.

Rick made such a difference in our relationship with God through his music. We are part of the family at MLC and when first attending his music about God touched our hearts. Every day our family reads the blog -All of you are in our thoughts and constant prayers.

Praising our Lord and Daddy for uplifting you and your loved ones during your prayer time last night. No matter what prayer I offer up for Rick and all of you, God always brings back to me,
'Rick, I will not forget you...I have carved you on the palm of My hand.' Is. 49:15
What more could we ask. Rick, He knows you. He knows every fiber of your being. He not only knows what your body is going through, at any moment, He is right with you holding you in the cradle of His arms. He will never leave you or forsake you. He will raise you up.
I want to thank you Rick, and your family, for falling so deeply in love with Jesus Christ. Because of your witness for Him you have brought untold numbers of believers to their knees in prayer. You, my dear Rick are going to be so humbled and excited when The Father allows you to see the many souls saved through this valley you are going 'through' at this time of your walk with Him. He is going through this valley with you holding your hand tightly.
I am so excited for you Rick. Jesus loves you so much. I pray His continued blessing over you.

Good morning Rick and family. I hope today brings encouragement and blessings. I am always thinking about you and speaking to God for this miracle. As this day unfolds we will sing praises to Him as He keeps his eyes on you and declares "Let not your hearts be troubled", feel His peace and comfort and know that He loves you and thanks you for all your Faith in Him and He is not going to disappoint you.
Love,
Elaine

Amen for another day.
You are all in our prayers... Wonderful day yesterday ... like in your song Candi alot of people dumped their pockets full of themselves for a pocket full of Christ's love that they could display for your brother.
With His Love,
Gerry

Thank You, Sustainer. Thank You for hearing the songs and prayers of our hearts. We continue to boldly come before you, even as we work throughout the day. May we be in continuous prayer. Listen as we boldly, yet humbly come before you. Knowing you have everything under control.

Hi Candi,
Thank you so much for updating us, your heart comes through loud and clear, a heart for our Redeemer and his glory. We continue to pray for a miracle and for you all to have the strength, physically and spiritually, to cope every day. We praise God that Rick is hanging in there and wait for God's revelation of his will in Rick's life. We will remain steady! Our hearts are with you!

This song keeps resonating in my spirit when thinking about Rick and family:
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
His oath, His covenant, and blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When every earthly prop gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
He is our solid rock, and we can lean on, and into Him when "every earthly prop gives way". To God be the GLORY! I believe that more good reports are headed our way!

Haley-
i haven't heard much from you during this time, and i wanted to tell you that i am constantly praying for you. Be strong in your faith, and remember how much we all love you and your amazing brother.

Our family is keeping all of you in our prayers. Rick, we love you and miss you at MLC.

I've been where you are now with my mom... probably in the same rooms at Northside. My heart is heavy for you as a family. I know where are, and my heart hurts for you. But He is Faithful, and we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses urging us on - and comforting Rick!
For the past months I have been training for a triathlon with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Our team will compete this weekend and next weekend. I have passed along this website to the team. Rick, we will be swimming, biking, and running for you. I will compete in honor of you, my precious brother in Christ. As my legs grow tired, I will think of you and pray for you.

What an amazing God we serve! I am so blessed to be a part of this body of Christ that loves Him so much!! We had a wonderful time of prayer and fellowship at our house last night. As Pam said, it must have been glorious in heaven having all those prayers storm the throne of God!! Can you imagine how it made God feel to see His people being obedient?!

Yesterday was difficult in many ways. I actually felt like I was "doing" something for Rick when I was fasting. I prayed that God would see the unity of the body of Christ.
Candi, when you said you were looking up at the sky and you could feel the prayers calling out to God, I too was looking up at the sky in my own backyard and praying that you, your family, and Rick would feel our love and our prayers surrounding you. There is something amazing about praying out in nature among God's beauty. It helps us to see all He has done and can do. It is awesome to think that at the same time we were all praying together for Rick. We all love Rick and we want nothing more than to see the hand of God heal him completely. We will continue to pray and to support you all. I repeat to myself all day long simply "The power of prayer". I think it is just a constant reminder to me to pray and to believe in those prayers.

It was an awesome night! Thanks for allowing us to join in the circle and pray for Rick. I'm so thankful that we have even more hope today! Our prayers are constant.
I've been meditating on the name of our beloved saviour - At the mere mention of His name - it drives the darkness away. He crushed death and took victory over the grave. His victory is ours - because of that triumph! We are made complete - we are victorious in Him!
Danny Stephens wrote this wonderful hymn of praise - and it has encirled my mind as I was praying for you last night:
And so this heart of mine that nailed him down
And placed upon his head a thorny crown
Is found without a fault according to
The sweetest name I know!
By his death he struck my failures down
Rising up again, raised me to life
I am whole because of Jesus Christ
The sweetest name I know!
Jesus, precious Jesus. You are King of all! You are so mighty and powerful! You are beautiful beyond all description! You are our salvation and our hope!
We call on your almighty name to completely restore our dear brother, Rick. We are committed to pray for this healing day and night! Thank you, dear Lord, for all you have already done and all you will do! We believe in your powerful name! We trust in your most holy name! We have all hope in your healing name!
In Jesus' name; Restoration for Rick,
Jen

Candi,
Our God searches the land for hearts that are pure and remain true. He has found both in you ... stay strong, girl ... your heart is beautiful and drawing so many to the heart of our Father.
For His Glory,

How much longer, LORD,
will you forget about me?
Will it be forever?
How long will you hide?
How long must I be confused
and miserable all day?
How long will my enemies
keep beating me down?
Please listen, LORD God,
and answer my prayers.
Make my eyes sparkle again,
or else I will fall
into the sleep of death.
My enemies will say,
"Now we've won!"
They will be greatly pleased
when I am defeated.
I trust your love,
and I feel like celebrating
because you rescued me.
You have been good to me, LORD,
and I will sing about you.

I have my entire school praying for all of you. It was amazing to know that so many people were praying at the same time last night! This has been my first time fasting and I have felt led to fast for a few more days. I know that if we wholly trust in our Father, things will work out for the best. Stay strong and faithful! My prayers for you will never cease.

Dear Rick, you're probably not familiar with me or anything like that, but I have seen this and I go with my friend to Mountain Lake on occasion. I knew the pictures seemed familiar and then I found out it was you. I remember the first time I went I was touched when you sang. I got away from Christ recently and thank God for this website, you've gotten me closer to God and you will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. May God be with you like He always is, and get well.
