9/2/05 am update

Good morning! We woke up under new mercies, praise God! I came to my computer singing a song about the faithfulness of our Father, thanking Him for the breaths I am taking, grateful for another day to trust Him.

Rick is still in this fight this morning. He is stable. His bilirubin count doesn't seem to know which way is down, however, as it has climbed right back up to 29. Our Savior, please allow this number to drop!

His heart rate seems to slow every 10 hours or so, but his blood pressure remains stable. His nurse said that they think it is a neurological function that isn't getting carried out fully. So we continue to focus our prayers on Rick's brain as this is the hub of activity and can affect so many other bodily functions. Our Healer, we pray for Rick's brain to return to the way you designed it to be, the way You created it when you knit Rick together. Cause his heart to beat steadily and strong, reflecting its Creator!

They have begun giving Rick a medication to enhance the production of his white blood cells. They want them to be more quickly numerous than it seems Rick can produce on his own right now. Our Shield & Defender, would you allow this medicine to stimulate the cells You created to be shields and defenders in our blood. Make them numerous so they can start fighting inside of his body as so many of us are fighting outside.

This is all of the information we have this morning. We should be talking to the Neurologist and the Radiation Oncologist today to get their opinions about Rick's progress, as well as results from recent CAT scans. I will post any new information for you.

Please remember to pray for Jeff, Shannon, and little Maggie.

Thank you for the prayers that are reaching the throne room of God on behalf or Rick. I know God is pleased to see so many of us trusting Him, talking with Him...believing Him! What Glory He is getting!

His.

In the night, when the sorrows run deep,
I lie in bed, and You hear me weep,
I pray that, Lord, You would deliver me,
Far from anguish, that You'd set me free.

Oh Lord, You hear me and You know my thoughts,
When I rise, and when I lay,
You surround me with Your love at night,
And give me strength for another day.

Jeff and Shannon,
I am at a lose for words. Please know that you are in my prayers. Your faith has been such an inspiration to all of us so far. Maybe now we can return the favor and sustain you for a while. The good news is, God is SO much bigger then all of this and He sees the big picture.

God is ever faithful! We continue to trust in his love for Rick, Suzanne, and all of his family and also for Jeffrey, Shannon and Maggie. We are learning to persevere, stand strong, and most importantly - how to pray. Every encouraging report is a victory!! We rejoice in every victory - no matter how small and continue to believe in the faithfulness of an all loving, all powerful Father!! We keep you in our thoughts and in our hearts all through the day without ceasing!

Good morning Candi...I already sent a message to Rick this morning. How are you? Silly question. I know you are exhausted, but let me tell you how your faith and the faith of your family inspires so many! I have met your parents and Haley, but look forward to someday meeting you. I continue to pray for Rick's healing and God's will to be done. I know it is hard to wait sometimes, but I know it will all be in His timing. Know that our thoughts are with you. MLC is praying for all of you and for little Maggie. Please keep us posted on her progress.

I don't know what to say...except that you are all in my prayers, I have been praying for Jeff & Shannon all along, for strength, thanking God for them and their faith and grace. Now I will add Maggie to the list. I also pray for understanding for ALL of us.
Thank God for another day for Rick!! Thank you for updating us.

Candi,

I'm sorry that I haven't been able to check up on Rick every day like I would like to. I've been very busy here at the base with work. But I was wanting to find out if there is anyway that Stephanie and I could donate blood so that they could use our platelets. I didn't know if anyone down here has done that yet. But either way we will continue to pray for all of you.

Sincerely,
Doug and Stephanie Baggett

God is still there, right in the middle of it. He is waiting for the right time for everything. His name will be glorified and we will have experienced a ride with Him. We pray for those whose bodies are experiencing physical pain and for the families who are crying and suffering emotionally for their children. Jeff & Shannon, I will include your little girl in my prayers and pass it along to everyone I know. The world will be praying for her, for Rick and your families.

You guys are never out of my thoughts. We love Rick so much, and have grown so close to all of you in the wonderful words you send to us. The praise that you always send to our Lord no matter what the doctors have to say. It has become such a part of my day to keep checking on the web sight to see how Rick is doing. I have recieved so much for myself from the post that people send to Rick being the scripture, the prayers, the reminders, and words of encouragement are so wonderful not for just you guys but for all of us. I wish that if someone is out of state that they would let everyone know how just how far that people are praying for Rick and family.

This website and these postings are such a testimony! The faith of your family is so uplifting. Please know that my family and I are praying for you daily. I have faith that these prayers are being heard and that our wise and compassionate Heavenly Father will answer the cries of His children. Mat 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

Posted by: friend at September 2, 2005 11:17 AM

May the Wisdom of God surround all of you throughout this. Let God's incredible, infallable Grace inhabit your thoughts, questions, fears and doubts. "And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, and are called according to His purpose."
God, you adjust temperatures and climates. Order night and day. Put galaxies in motion. We ask for a God-size miracle. A working that would only be possible because of You. We pray specifically for these things. Please bring down Rick's bilirubin count. We'd like to see this number drastically drop. Thank you for sustaining Rick's blood pressure, and we ask that raise both his heart beat and his white blood cell count.
Thank You, God for your faithfullness in all situations. Having full confidence that you know the outcome, and will be glorified in everything. Hear our prayers, God.

What an amazing day you have made Father.

I want to say thank you for everything this day was created for.

Let me confess, I am weak and I don't understand your plan Father and it really hurts. I know you are doing this all for your glory ... so let me be weak and content. If it takes my weaknesses to glorify you in this time Lord let them come out for all to see.

It has stopped being about individuals and has become about the Kingdom surrounding those in need. To include Rick, His family, Shannon, Jeffrey and sweet little Maggie. My heart cries out Dad please oh please heal these two precious jewels You have placed here on earth.

Thank you Dad for all those surrounding these two who are suffering.

All in Your name,

Gerry

Good morning everyone. Candi, thanks for the update When the news came about Maggie, I was at a loss for words, but I turned inwardly and felt that God has His strong hands on her also as well as for Jeffrey and Shannon. He has been holding everyone up throughout this and He is not going to loosen that grip now. I think His plan is to show the world that not matter what, we will not loose our Faith in Him and certainly will not give up. We are a strong body of Christ and it is evident that we come together in time of need. We continue to glorify Him in all His ways. Another little quotation to share with you

"FAITH IS THE BIRD THAT SINGS WHILE IT IS YET DARK" Max Lucado

Can you hear all the singing - what joyous music.
God bless each of you during this time and please let me know if I can do anything.

Love,

Dear Father,

Let the cries of our hearts resound in You. Surround your children with Your presence. Send the Comfortor to us and intercede for us. We know You will do all things in Your time and for Your glory. Help us, Lord to be faithful and patient. Place the praise in our hearts and mouths to glorify You. How we anticipate the time when we will sing and dance for joy that Rick and Maggie are made well in our sight. Shore us up Father that we may continue to praise and thank you because You are God.

Amen

When I read the news of little Maggie I just had to have a few minutes.... then I cried out to the Lord and I know that he heard my cries. My prayer today for Rick is the numbers drop and that Rick continues to fight. That each of you continue to glean strength from your family as well as from each of us your extended family.

To Jeffery, Shannon & Maggie - Jesus loves the little children, he will not forsake you. I pray that the doctors be filled with knowledge and that the diagnosis be clear and that God grant these doctors the immediate means to treat little Maggie. With Rick and Maggie we have a good Chief of Staff the best I know. Our prayers are being offered up. God's love is surrounding you...

Love to all.... Patti Holder

Rick, Jonathan and you are such a blessing to our church family at NPCC. The Scott family is also high on our prayer list as we are praying for their Maggie to be well.

MY ANCHOR IS JESUS!!

The Anchor Holds
Words and music by Lawrence Chewning and Ray Boltz

I have journeyed through the long, dark night
Out on the open sea,
By faith alone, sight unknown,
And yet His eyes were watching me.

The Anchor holds, though the ship is battered.
The Anchor holds, though the sails are torn.
Well I have fallen on my knees,
as I faced the raging sea,
But the Anchor holds, in spite of the storm.

I've had visions and I've had dreams;
Well I've even held them in my hands,
But I never knew those dreams could slip right through
Like they were only grains of sand.

O, the Anchor holds, though the ship is battered.
The Anchor holds, though the sails are torn.
Well I have fallen on my knees,
as I faced the raging seas.
O, the Anchor holds, in spite of the storm.

Now I have been young, but I am older now.
O and there has been beauty these eyes have seen;
But it was in the night, when I faced the storms of my life.
Oh, that's where God proved His love to me.

The Anchor holds, though the ship is battered.
The Anchor holds, though the sails are torn.
I have fallen, fallen down on my kneew
as I faced the raging seas.
But the Anchor holds; O, in spite of the storm.
I said I've fallen, fallen down on my knees
as I faced the raging seas;
But the Anchor holds, in spite of the storm.

Prayers continue to be said for Rick and your whole family. Prayer is so powerful and with so many "prayer warriors" at work, we know God is taking care of Rick in ways unknown to us on earth,....we believe through faith in HIM! "Kansas prayers" are being sent to our loving God for continued healing for Rick. God Bless.

Candi,

Alisha and I check Rick's website several times a day for updates and we continue to pray without ceasing. I've only posted once before, but don't want you and your family to think we're not on our knees for our friend RickyP!! Rick, you and your family are constantly in our thoughts and prayers, through the course of each and every day and night.

All our love....Kevin and Alisha

Shannon-

From the few times I've met you, your humor and encouraging words have always lifted my spirits. Not to mention what an artist you are with your words! You literally have painted a canvas with your eloquent updates. But now precious sister-in-Christ, we want to be there for you.

The God of all healing comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, He brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us. (II Cor. 1:3-5) Isn't it amazing how the body of Christ works!

As we are trying to do, I want to remind you, your husband, and family to keep your eyes focused on our Precious Lord and not on your circumstances. Peter walked on water as long as his gaze was fixed on Christ. He only sank when he considered how rough the water was. We CAN rise above our struggles because we are empowered by the SAME power that Christ had. In fact, He said we could do even GREATER than HIM! That's an awesome power that He allowed us to have just by humbling ourselves, repenting of our sins, and recognizing Christ as the Son of God.

Lord, find us faithful in these difficult times. We are fixed on YOU and your amazing grace. PLEASE bring healing, in the name of Jesus, for our precious Rick and
Maggie.

Humbly,

Barbie

Suzanne and Rick's Family,
Just wanted to say I am still praying, and that God is continuing to teach me more about Himself daily as I pray for Rick (and for Maggie). Someone please hug Suzanne for me. Su, hold on. Keep looking to the cross. Keep believing that faith is the substance of things hoped for. Keep hoping. Keep praying. Consider those who have gone before you, and imitate their faith. God withholds no good thing who walk uprightly. I love you so much and you are constantly on my mind and on my heart. I miss you. I am praying for you.

My heart is heavy for so many people in and around the world that I do even know. Such tradegy is taking place, but I am thankful that you are Huge and glorious. Your cheif end is your glory and you are gaining that for this situation. God we ask that in the name of Jesus you will heal both Rick and Maggie. God i pray that in the midst of battle you would open the flood gates. God I thank you that from the center of your being you are on a pursuit of humanity. It was such a joy to see you today! I was glad our "out of the way" errand was an unexpected surprise!

We have thought of you all so much in the past few days and praising Him for even these small steps toward the ultimate recovery!!! Oh Praise Him!

We are anxious to laugh with Rick again over the funny stories we have enjoyed sharing over the years.

This will be such an awesome story to tell, won't it? The amazing journey of an amazing individual who will tell his story the rest of his life -of our amazing God and how He is to receive all glory!

We will continue to beseech our benevolent God for complete healing and restoration of our dear friend! We will pray for those stubborn bilirubin levels to drop so low that even 4 seems high.

Our love to your family this night and remember that we are praying for you with each passing hour.

Dear Suzanne and Rick's Family,
Words cannot tell you how I rejoice and also hurt with you (cry too). Kara says your faith is so strong. It shows in your blogs, how you continue to praise the Lord, giving Him all the glory and honor inspite of your circumstances. You have some mighty warriors for the Lord at your side. God is using your faithful witness in ways that you don't even know. You are a wonderful example even to your fellow christians of how we should act during our hard times in life. To that I want to say thank you. I know and believe the Great Physician can heal Rick completely. His will shall be done.
I haven't met Rick yet but I look forward to the day that I will. He is a very handsome young man Suzanne and I love the pictures of y'all.
I will continue to pray with you and for you. I am also praying for Maggie.
