9/1/05 PM Update

hello all,

What an interesting journey we have been on! We continue to be amazed by your tireless prayers and support. Know that you are such an encouragement to us daily, usually moment by moment! For that I say thank you.

Rick is stable today. His bilirubin count is down another point, which brings us to 27. Down is down, so praise God! He is being given medication to keep his heart rate up in the 70-80 range. So continue to direct your prayers toward his sustaining that heart rate. His white cell counts need to start rising, as well his neurological functions. So I think the overall prayer here is for all of these to "pick up the pace!" We have seen improvements daily, tiny as they may be, and we are thankful for ANY improvement! Rick's ventilator has been turned off today, so he is breathing on his own through the trach, which is a welcomed sight! He is fighting, God is holding him, and He remains more faithful than sunrise. We are humbled.

You might notice the style of this post has changed a bit (your biggest clue is that it isn't as good as usual!), and that is because we (Candi & Jonathan) have taken over the postings for a few days.

This brings us to our next bit of news. I find myself, even as I type, trying to figure out if we are perhaps dreaming and need desperately to wake up! We have all relied so much on the tireless efforts of Shannon & Jeffrey Scott during this time. They have been an INVALUABLE lifeline between our family and all of those who have rallied around Rick.

Their 3 year old daughter, Maggie, has not been feeling well recently . Today they took her to have some tests done, and the doctors found that she has low platelets, an enlarged liver, spleen, and lymph nodes. They are running a long list of tests on her, including epstein-barr, hepatitis, and leukemia, but Jeffrey & Shannon will not get the results from these until Tuesday or Wednesday.
They are in desperate need of your prayers right now... for peace in their ever-racing minds and hearts, for extended wisdom to doctors, & for God's hand to be evident in this situation. We have seen the power of prayer!

Now we ask that you join Shannon & Jeffrey in the trenches to battle on behalf of their daughter.

We know that God is not at all suprised by Maggie's sickness. May we hold to the truth that He has the whole world in His hands!

His.
Candi & Jonathan

Well - we can see one avenue of what God has been doing through Jeffrey & Shannon. He has been building their faith through the postings for the battle they are in right now. We all know what God can do and now we all join in the battle crys for Maggie, Shannon, Jeffry, Rick, Rick's family, and Suzanne. This is still not to big for God and it is right before the victory sometimes that the heat - heats up. Our Pastor - Russell Davis at the Praise Center always tells us to FIGHT FROM VICTORY!! WE ALREADY KNOW WE HAVE WON THE BATTLE WE JUST HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE MOTIONS. IT IS EASIER TO FIGHT A BATTLE IF YOU KNOW YOU WIN AT THE END THAN IT IS IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE OUTCOME IS. We all know with God we WIN!!! So let's fight from VICTORY not for VICTORY then we want get so tired!!

We love you God and we thank you for Rick and Maggie's complete perfect healing in Jesus Name.

We love you all, and are grateful for Jeffrey and Shannon's tireless efforts to keep us up to date. We continue you to pray for you all and for Rick’s specific needs (let’s pick up the pace and down with the bili!). We will add Maggie to prayers and join her in her fight against whatever is ailing her. We pray her results are good results. Going to battle with you all and grateful to be able to do so. Take care and get some rest.

Candi and Jonathan,
Thank you for your update. We will continue to pray for Rick and ALL of you including Jeff and Shannon. We will also add little Maggie to our list. We know that prayer works and we can fight on many fronts. I look forward to seeing how God works all this out to His glory!

Thank you for "taking over" the posts. Also, be sure to post if Maggie needs platelets so we can donate in her name too.

Call on us if you need ANYTHING!

Candi and Jonathan, thank you for stepping in and continuing to update us on your brother. It can't be easy. We will continue to pray for all of you - God is at work.

Shannon and Jeffery, what a scary time. We will pray for you and little Maggie. You have been a wonderful portal for God's messages. Thank you for everything you have tirelessly done for Rick, his family, and all of us and know that we are all here for you too.

There isn't anything that "occurs" to God. He knows the present, past and future and he holds us all dear in his hand!

Candi and Family - there isn't a moment that goes by that we don't think and pray for you and for Rick's healing.

Now I also find it surreal to be adding Maggie to our prayers - but as I mentioned above - God already knew and is in full care of our dear Maggie. We will pray for Jeff and Shannon as well, that God calm and comfort them and guide them as the doctors help to determine what needs to happen.

We love you all - and are so thankful we're all a part of God's family!

Take care and know we're firmly planted!

Dear Candi,
Thanks for updating. This site is a great thing. Just hearing you be so optomistic helps me to be optomistic too. Please keep us up to date on Rick's condition it helps me and others out. Thank you. And as for Maggie, can I donate platelets, is that possible? well thank you and goodbye. Rick and Maggie and all of you will be in my prayers.

Shannon and Jeffrey,

Our prayers will be with you and Maggie as well. Remember, God can do all things.

Candi and Jonathan...I've sent many messages directly to Rick, but have failed to really speak to you guys. Know that my prayers have been for your entire family. I work at MLC and have heard so many stories of life change and people giving church and God just one more chance because he is working through Rick. They have heard of Rick's story and many are drawn to this site. THey are inspired and influenced by the faith that is typed out each day! Thank you for taking over the posts...I know it's got to be very hard. I began praying for Maggie, as soon as I got the call. We are all one body of Christ, so I hope Jeffrey and Shannon understand that we are here for them also.

Big hugs to you and your family and of course, pass one on to Rick please!!!

John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows, but take heart, because I have overcome the world.

May God give you peace in the moments when you need it most.

Love,

And sweet Maggie, we will add prayers for her healing as well, for an acurate diagnosis, and God's guiding hand in the doctors' decisions for care.

We'll be away from Internet access for several days and cannot post, but please trust that we continue to pray. Praying...praying...praying...

Shannon and Jeffrey,

I posted this morning saying I would help with this site or anything ...just ask... that offer still stands, anything you need just ask. We are all one big family.

I have talked to our Dad and asked Him for the healing of Maggie. We love you and are here for you.

Candi and Jonathon ... Thank you for taking the burden of posting messages so everyone will know what is going on with Rick and to let us know exactly what to ask of our Father. The same offer goes out to you ... If you need help with the site or anything you have my email address, ask ... no task too small or great.

With His Love,

Candi,
Thank you for taking time to communicate with us. We have felt such a connection to you and your family, as well as to Shannon and Jeffrey. My husband has an appt. to give platelets for Rick next Tues., and we continue to lift him and your entire family up the the Father's throne. Every day is a new day, and every small improvement is worthy of celebration! I continue to pray that you will all rest at night, as I know the days are exhausting. As unbelievable as it was to read about little Maggie's health today, I realized that through this website the Scott's have a link to many people they might not have had otherwise. All of us are ready to go to battle on their behalf also. Let them know that we are now praying for sweet Maggie's healing, and for Shannon and Jeffrey to rest in Him and know His peace as they've never known it.
God is most certainly at work here.....

What a time of prayer and intercession the past few weeks have been. In such a trying time for so many, it has been so evident that God is in total control. Each day He has shown me and so many others something new about His character. Some are harder to learn than others, and although it is so hard to understand right now, it is amazing to see God work.

Candi and Jonathan (Fajah)- Thanks for taking over the updates. I look forward to talking with you sometime soon. Jonathan, it was good to see you the other day. I love you guys!

Ricky- We are still fighting for you! You are constantly on my heart!!

Jeff, Shannon, Mags, and Jack,
What a blessing your family has been to me. You guys are such a bright spot in my life and I am so glad I am able to stand behind and fight this battle. We are here for you, fighting with all of our might with prayer and intercession for healing in sweet Maggie and for peace in your hearts in this time of waiting. I love you guys, and please know you are being supported by so many people around the world.

Dang you Kelly - I'm sure everyone reading your response is wiping their tears as we are here.

To the Pearsons and family: I know if you could you would cut a hole in heavens roof and lower Rick into see Jesus. You're doing that with your prayers.

To the Scotts: You've poured all of your energy into helping Rick and family. We thank you for that - now it's our turn to pour into you.

To Rick and Maggie: Fight Fight Fight - we will be praying for you without ceasing. We can't wait to see you again and talk about how God brought you through this.

To our Awesome Father in Heaven: Thank you for bringing us all closer to you through these precious people - we asked you to do a miracle - please heal our friends.

In your Son's Holy Name - Amen

May God be your strength and shield, a very present help in trouble..... He cannot be shaken, so we'll hold tightly to Him.

Romans 8: vs. 35 and 37-39 - Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? (vs. 37) No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.....

I don't even know where to begin, this latest news has forced me to tears. My child spent 23 days at Egelston and at first was not expected to live. She is here and doing well thanks to the grace of GOD. Shannon and Jeff, although I have never met you, stay strong and believe that GOD knows what he is doing, Maggie is in my prayers and so are you. To Candi and the rest of the family ( you included Suzanne) stay positive and know that we are praying for you and Rick everyday. My heart bleeds for everyone as I know what sleepless nights and worry does (I spent days and nights on my knees in the chapel at Egelston) You all have made me a better person with the faith and love you all have. I look up to every one of you- you are all in my prayers at every waking moment. Praying for AWESOME outcomes for both Rick and Maggie. Thanks for reminding me what an awesome GOD we have. Let me know if there is anything I can do. Look forward to your updates Candi. All my thoughts and prayers to everyone.

Dear All,

There was little sleep for me last night. I took that as an invitation to pray. You are all covered with so much love and prayer.

Jeff and Shannon, "Forever God is Faithful." You have sung that song so beautifully for years. Jeff, I can hear you hit that last Forever as only you can, and I believe that the God who has blessed us all with Maggie will continue to do so in her healing. My whole heart is wrapped around this. I love you all so very much.

Shannon, stay strong. I'm sending you a huge cyber hug. I am away this weekend, but Jes is close and I know that she wants to help in any way. I'll be back on Monday and ready to do whatever!!!

Candi and Jonathan, you are such witnesses of God's power in your strength and joy that shine through in words on a screen. Thank you for letting us know about both Rick and Maggie. God's mercies are great, and we are so thankful for each and every improvement. His heart is wrapped all around all of you.

Now praying for Maggie...that God will begin healing her, even before Jeff & Shannon know what's going on inside her little body.

Thanking God for the ministry of the Pearsons, Scotts, & Sheltons. I've been attending NPCC for 5 years, and have been tremendously blessed through your song. Now I'm glad to be able to give back through prayer.

Hi Rick et al,
I haven't been able to write of late, as I just got to Decatur where I had access to a computer again. Last week, I lost my home, contents, and car to hurricane Katrina; but, as I write, I am praising God for his love for me and my puppy Ginger, as He spared us from harm. Radford, my son, came down and got me and brought back to his home. Emily prepared a "Sara's Shelter" in two rooms while Rad was gone. How blessed I am, Praise God!!! Then I found out yesterday I have no flood insurance, and all I could say was, "Praise the Lord and thank you for your Love and Guidance!" He will provide.
You have never been far from my heart and prayers, even as I watched my "things" being destroyed by Katrina. I couldn't wait to get to a computer to check on you.
I am with you in Spirit.

Candi, Jonathan and family,
I justed wanted you to know that despite the fact this process has been going on for what seems to be a very long time- our hearts and prayers are still fresh for Rick and all of you. Know as your minds think and dream of almost nothing besides Rick- that seems to be the case for many. Rick's name is brought up constantly everywhere I go. At North Point, his condition is the constant question and discussion. At home, Nancie and I speak and pray for him very often. Nancie's family never comes by or calls without talk about Rick. I drove by CT Grinders and, the sign read, "Please pray for Rick". I just say all that to say this, you are not alone in your fight for Rick- he is loved and we are still praying for him to fully recover.
Know that Rick and all of you who love him most, are loved. Ted

Elaine, Billy, Candi and Haley, We have no ideal what you are going through, but God does and he has Rick in the palm of his hands and walking the streets of gold. Rick was a great inspiration and whitness to all that knew him. He will surely be missed not only by his family, but friends also. We remember his as a little boy growing up around all of us, but he was a great example for all the youth that he touched. We are praying for all that God will make you even stronger as you go through this. We love all of you and we surely will miss him, but for sure he is in a much better place than we are. God be with you. Love Dave and Geneva
