My First Entry

Thanks for coming to the site.

If you are here then you are probably aware of Rick's condition and want to be updated.
That is what this site is for.

Here is a quick history.
Rick was singing for BigStuf down in Panama City this summer in June. He started feeling kind of weak and nauseous and thought he might be dehydrated.

When he got back home near the end of June. He was still feeling weak and sick and went to a Dr. to get checked out. Had some blood tests run. Waited. Had some more run. Waited some more. Thoughts were that it might be a parasite. Then the possibility of Hepatitis.
Those tests came back negative. Thoughts were that it might be a rare kind of Mono.
More tests. Results looked not so positive. Thoughts were it might be Hodgkins.
A bone marrow biopsy the first week in August. Then more tests and a lymph node biopsy have now revealed that Rick has Leukemia.

As of Friday Aug, 5th. He is in the Cancer ward at Northside Hospital in Atlanta. The Doctors are giving him antibiotics to help his liver get in a little better shape so he had begin chemotherapy as soon as possible.

Rick is Amazing. His attitude is incredible. His spirit is good. He is making his nurses laugh.
He knows God is in charge and his faith is strong.

He and his family need your prayers. We believe he can beat this thing just as others have...and he will do that with the attitude he has, with our prayers and with God's grace.

He is presently in an area where you can't send flowers or gifts and not many people can really go in to see him. His family is here. Suzanne and his close friends are around. They are great supporters and are with him all the time. You can send cards and you can send notes on this web site.

We will keep this updated as frequently as we can and let you know what is going on with him.

We will also keep you updated on any needs his family has and how you can help.

That info will be coming shortly.
Thanks for staying connected and for all your prayers.

Hey Rick!
You probably don't know me, but I am an old friend (we went to high school together)of Suzanne's. But I just wanted to let you know, that there are many of us here in Daphne and Mobile praying for you! We have been encouraged by your story, and are confident as you said that God is in control. Amazing how comforting that is and how beautiful it is to have a God so trustworthy! Thank you for demonstrating that attitude, I know that God is using that to demonstrate His character to the nurses and people around you. Please let Suzanne know that we love her and are also going to "battle" for her. Also, congratulations on the engagement, you are a lucky guy, as I am sure she is a lucky girl!
We are praying!

Hi Rick,
We are from Suzanne's home church and are lifting you up in our prayers. Barbie and Henry are good friends of ours and have kept us up to date with what is happening. We know that God is working through all of this and we trust Him to carry you through these tough times. This web site looks great and it's great for us to put a face with the name we've have been praying for over these past weeks. Our whole church is praying for you and your family.

Hey Rick, it was good to hear you've got such a positive outlook right now. You are a witness of how God's grace is enough to sustain us through some of the most challenging times of life... times no one wants to imagine going through and wonders how they'd ever survive it if it happened to them. Thanks for being a living testimony of how great our God is, and for living a life that brings glory to Him. There have been some amazing stories come out of this, and no doubt there will be many more in the future.

You are very much missed at Mountain Lake and we all look forward to seeing you again soon. Don't keep us waiting TOO long, okay? :)

Hey Rick. My husband and I are praying for you. We've heard too, that several churches in this area are praying for you. We're storing up extra platelets if you need them :-)

Rick, you are special in God's eyes for who you are, not just what you do. We all love your singing and leading worship, but beyond all that - you are complete and loved by God, fully accepted by him.

People are praying for you and love you. And remember, Jesus too is praying for you. He is, afterall, the great intercessor.

We all feel so helpless and we are wishing we could do something, anything. The reality is that we can only pray and rely on God, but if you ever find you'd like a CD with scriptures or music, or anything, please let us all know. It would be a blessing and honor to help with anything, even the smallest detail. If they don't have your favorite food there, or whatever, let us know. If you need or want anything, please Rick let us know. We love you!

Hey Tricky Ricky...how are you? I miss your smiling face so much and cannot wait to see you again in your "red hot" red shirt singing about God's grace and His glory. You are a complete inspiration and testimony to us all. To know you are so focused on what God is doing in you and through you is amazing. I spoke to my mom about God for really the first time ever and you became the focal point of my conversation..I told her that God has a plan and that he uses each of us to reach others. I told her that God would use you to reach others, and that you knew this was your purpose on earth. She was truly amazed and almost confused by your trust in the Lord! That confusion comes from her not having Jesus in her heart, but we will continue to work on her. Thanks for your courage...it's contagious and gave me the courage to have that conversation!

I love you Rick and mama Rutledge wants you back here soon, so we can eat pizza together on Fridays again!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RICK!

You are such a joy to work with - I love getting to sing with you - and near you - and mostly just listening to you sing all by yourself. God broke the mold with you Pearson folk! Hey Rick! It's great to see that you are keeping a wonderful attitude through this situation. I have always admired your faith in God and your belief in what He can do. I have wonderful memories of you, Rick. The Gatlinburg trip when you, Kristin, Scotty, and I had that pillow fight, your cooking (that was always a treat), hanging out at my house until our next class, everyone pitching in and buying the DVD player for me because you rented a DVD thinking I had a player, but I didn't. . . hehehe. That was funny! Oh yeah, I almost forgot about when you guys would make fun of me in Sun Cheif Sound when I would sing that Beach Boys song "I Get Around." Ah. . . good times. There are so many more, but there probably isn't enough room on here. I just wanted you to know that every memory I have of you is wonderful and I know that God is going to use you through this situation in a mighty and powerful way. I miss you soooo much and I can't wait for the day to when I can see you and God will have completely healed you. Keep your head high and know that I'm praying for you, and practically everyone in Bay Minette and Elba, Alabama is praying for you too! Love you!!

Hey, bro! Just wanted to let you know that we're, of course, praying for you. OF COURSE you're in good spirits - you always are. Actually, Ryder may not be praying for you - he's just 3 weeks old - we're not sure what he's thinking - but - we're pretty sure he wants you teach him the Godfather Theme on his little mini Baruke acoustic guitar soon!

I miss you and hope that you had a chance to plaster the walls of the BBR with some giant water balloon debris this summer before you had to go!

Come back to Inside Out soon! Oh yeah - poker at my house!

God bless you, brotha!

The folks at Norfolk Southern, relatives and churches in Alabama, Michigan, Texas, California, Florida, Colorado, etc. are all praying for you. I believe there are possibly some Egyptians praying for you, too. :) We're praying to keep that billirubin count down, as well as for Suzanne (and your family) and for your spirits and energy. God is holding you in His loving hands through this, my friend. Kyle and Haley pray for you nightly and love and miss you too. Smooches from the Collins'!!!

Hey Rick,

You, and what God does through you are an amazing blessing to our family. I love reading through this BLOG and seeing what an awesome body God truly has. Every part working together, to heal another part! God has a great and wonderful plan for each of us... you've done so much already, I cannot wait to see what he has in store for you after this trial. We, just as every other face at MLC, love you Rick! You are, to many, the voice of MLC... it's certainly not Shawns teaching! jk... Anyway, get well and get back here, you are missed!

Rick,
Just wanted to let you know that our family and friends are praying for you. We came from Hebron Baptist in Dacula about 2 years ago and we have just fallen in love with Mtn. Lake and your music was a big part of that. What an voice for the Lord! Anyway, the good people at Hebron are praying for you. Keep in good spirits, the Lord will take good care of you, this is just part of his plan, whatever that maybe, so just keep your heart focused on HIM. Get better and hurry back!

It's great to have a site where we can share our thoughts and get an update on our good friend. Be strong! Looking forward to seeing you again soon.

Hi Rick,

I know you know him, Jesus, He who was and still is in the healing business. He has a miracle waiting for you. Believe, claim it and watch the veil of faith prevail.

If I may recommend two books for you to read in such a time as this. They are: "All Your Health Questions Answered Naturally" by Dr. Maureen Kennedy Salaman. Refer to pages 652 - 661.
And, "The Maker's Diet" by Jordan Rubin. Both author's derivites are straight from scriptures.
I promise you, you will be forever blessed.

In daily prayer and supplication,
Jean

I just want you to know how loved you are! My family is praying for you daily and missing you terribly.

God has so much more for you to do so hang in there.

Right now and every other day of your life, you are doing exactly as God intends for you to do. There is someone that is in your life in your time of need that is learning so much from you. Keep up your spirits and know you have thousands of people praying for you.

We miss you so much. I was absolutely devastated when I heard the news but knew that there is a purpose for this craziness and you will find that purpose.

Hey Ricky,
I was so blessed as I read your site and how you're handling this situation. It almost brought tears to my eyes That's awesome! God is so good. I love you alot man and wish I could hug your neck.

I hope I'll be able to send you a scripture CD with healing scriptures on it. You may remember Bro. Gary Sap coming to our church. One time he shared his wife's testimony about how God healed her of cancer. I saw him on TBN last week sharing this. I took it as confirmation of your healing.

You probably know that sometimes God uses natural/preventative medicine to heal people. My parents used to be on something called the Hallaluia diet. Check out the material on the following web site. It may very well do you good.

Boy do I feel insignificant writing to you--what with the likes of Lanny, Gleason, Scott, Sanders, Rogers, et.al. My wife and I are just two of the many anonymous faces in the crowd at MLC...you are adored by a ton of people, I see!

I simply wanted to encourage you and let you know that people you wouldn't even know are praying for you, your family, and your recovery. My step-mother was diagnosed with Leukemia 5 years ago and has been in remission for 4 1/2 years. I have been training for 10 weeks for the Chicago Marathon, and after learning about your diagnosis I contacted the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society about raising money for research. I intend on running the race in honor of you and my step-mother--if that'd be alright.

Happy birthday. Get back on that stage soon--we miss your angelic vocals.

are so glad that we had the chance to meet you and all of Laura's friends with the Sun Chief Sound at Faulkner State. I am glad that my house was a place for all of you to hang out between classes. Rick, when you and Laura sang the duet in "CHRISTMAS ON THE COAST" that first year, I thought you both did such a great job..thanks so much for blessing my heart thru that song...you have a gift that God has given you and you certainly have been using your talent...now, God is going to use you through this illness. I know it is not going to be easy and you are probably going to be in the "valley" at times...keep looking up to God and believing that HE will have you back on that "mountain" once again.

Hi Rick and Family,
I don't know you guys yet as I just started attending Mountain Lake Church two weeks ago. That's when I heard about you and what you are going through. I wrote you a short note that Sunday, I hope you were encouraged by it. I know what your family is going through, as we just went through much the same over the last several months. My 16 year old daughter, Brittany, was diagnosed last October with Hodgkin's Lymphoma (cancer of the lymph nodes). It feels like a hard punch to the gut when you hear that your child has cancer. We prayed ALOT and tried to remain strong through it all for her. She had a very positive outlook, and kept believing that God would heal her. After only four months of chemo, she was declared "in remission"!!!!! I thank God every day for His grace, peace, strength, and healing touch. I am earnestly interceeding for Rick's healing and for your family to continue to feel God's presence and His peace. I hope to meet you all one day real soon.

Much Love in Christ,

Hey Rick,

I feel just so useless. All that I know to do is calling everyone I know AGAIN to get them to pray and add you to prayer lists everywhere!!! You are being prayed for in so many different areas.

We love and miss you so much!

I know everyone is saying this but I'll go ahead and say it too. To your whole family, please let me know if there is ANYTHING that I can do other than praying.

I love you and my family and friends are praying for you.

Hey Rick!

A couple of weeks ago, I saw you come into MLC after the music had started. You were escorted in the back/side of the church by your girl friend. I was so touched to see you and knowing how awful you must have felt that day. Everyone standing around and enjoying the music and to look over at you to see you praising God as you sat with you arms in the air praising Him so much. You are such an inspiration Rick. And to think so many of us do not attend church for various reasons or even when we are just a little tired. I do hope I was not out of line by coming over to you after the message to give you a hug. I was so touched!

Just wanted to wish you a belated Happy Birthday and to let you know that you have so many people praying for you! You have been such an inspiration to our church and my family. You hang in there! Please know that you are not alone in all of this. A friend reminded me this week "In order to see the Rainbow, you must first endure some Rain". I hope you see your rainbow soon!!!!! We love and miss you! Hope to see you soon.

God Bless,

Rick,
I know you won't remember me, but my husband and I are friends of Phil Roger's, and I met you one day at the little outside shop at Mtn Lake. You burned a cd message for me as we were heading out of town and were wanting something to listen to. Phil was there as well when I picked up the cd. Hugh and I went to Mtn Lake many, many times, and you lead us to the Throne on those days. We loved sitting under your leadership. Rick, my heart goes out to you right now. Hugh and I just interceded for you and will continue to do so as many times a day as we can. About a year and a half ago, I had somewhat of a scare with my health and had to have a bone marrow test done as well(ouch!). I have a platelet disorder, so I know what having low platelets is like. We are waiting for the Lord to do GREAT and MIGHTY things before us all Rick. We asked for your health to be restored and that He would be glorified to the nth degree through all of this. We asked that many who do not believe would hear and believe in Him after witness what the Lord could do in this situation. One of the things that Hugh and I love sooo much about the Lord is that He never changes. Ever. He isn't losing anything through all of this, for He is in control, and you know that. We ask for your healing Rick, and I commit to be a prayer warrior for you every day, as well as for your family and your fiance. We ask all of this in Jesus' Precious Name-

Hey Pearsons,
We are going through the daily routines of life on Auto-pilot right now because every thought and prayer are for you. Any other prayer option is on hold, you have our full, undivided attention 'til this thing plays out.
The Donohos have walked the valley of Cancer and Fear, one caused by the frailties of the physical body, the other caused by frailties of the soul. Satan delights in both. We, too, prayed for the miracle of "healing". The unexpected miracle that came to us that we still feel today came from the supernatural sense of peace , power and comfort from friends, family and strangers that ministered to us along the way. We would not rewrite history if we had the chance because we feel we have experienced the presence of God that few will know this side of Heaven. I hope you feel that... it will sustain you long after this ordeal is over.
I'm sure that if you could somehow spray-paint the air around you to expose the Angels among you, it would be a solid color... 3-dimensional in many layers! I know the non-believers on that floor have to feel it. It's the power that the heroes of the Bible felt that made them do heroic, self-less things. It will keep you strong and you will be a witness to all those around you, even though you may feel weary and emotional.
We love ya'll, we're on your side, we're behind you... ask anything of us.

I am praying hard for your recovery Rick. I know the Lord sees you as one of his strong diciples and realizes your importance to all of us and the inspiration and influence you have on our daily lives. Hang in there son! God loves you and I love you! Jack Martin, Lakeland FL.

Rick,
We love you so much! We know that if you are reading this, God has said," ok, my children, I have heard your prayers and I am going to step in." We believe with all our hearts that this can be. But, if you don't get to read this from your computer on earth, we know you are reading our hearts from the most glorious place you could be. We know there is a bigger plan than what our selfish hearts want. God loves you so much and is so proud of you. We want you here to minister to us in the beautiful way you always have. We love your gorgeous smile and beautiful eyes and listening to you praise the Lord in your special way we know you have touched thousands of hearts for Jesus. You have accomplished so much for the Lord in such a short period of time. He made you so special. And we know you are going to be gloriously healed, either here or with Him and that we are going to sing with you again one way or the other. We Love You, Jim Sharon and Jaymi

Through members of your church circulating the need for prayers for Rick, we at First Redeemer are also lifting you up to God in prayer. We can see him being glorified in this tragedy and pray for healing. God be with you all. The family of God is with you in spirit and love.

I mailed an "Annointed Cloth" to Rick's address c/o Elaine. It is from Tony McCullough's church. He sent it via his son Kelly to me at Northview. I had asked every student that went to church to request prayer for Rick. It you get this message please pin it on his pillow or gown. We know God answers prayers and Rick is being lifted up by many, many people. We love you all. Mary Ann Spence

Rick, We are praising God for the news that your surgery went well. We continue to look for His glory in and through this entire situation, in you and in each member of your surrounding family and friends. He alone is able and more than capable. He loves you and is working in this for THE BEST. What we don't see, we claim by faith and our Father is certainly faithful. Know that our prayers continue for you and each of your precious family.

Rick,
You don't know us, but we know who you are. We saw you for the first time perform at a NPCC Married Life event. Having already been blown away by hearing Candie, it didn't surprise us to see another amazing talent. Rick, people are praying for you that you don't even know. We are asking God for healing and to give you all peace that surpasses understanding. May His love sustain and strengthen you -

My precious family.
I know so many of us are praying but we can rejoice in the truth that we are not the only ones praying! Romans 6:26 says "and in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words". tonight as we go to sleep and we whisper our last prayer we can rest knowing that the Spirit is praying for you. God is praying for Rick because we are lost of words. we have prayed and prayed and now we have the promise that our Father is interceding for us. I'm so happy that He's praying for you! He is "groaning" for you Rick! He loves you with an everlasting love! Nothing can separate us from His love! But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loves us! Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the Father praying for you! what a priviledge to call Him Father! I love you all! dot

Hey, My name is Jessica and i met Rick a really long time ago. I go to the University of South Ala. with a friend of Suzanne's. I overheard her telling Rick's story and i remembered his name from a church camp i went to years ago. I was only 12 but i believe it was in Springville Alabama. Anyway i was very shocked and sorry about what happened. Rick was a very popular guy at camp, i have to say i had a bit of a crush on him. I do have a few pictures of him. If you would like me to send them i would be happy to, if you just let me know where. Best regards to everyone and God Bless!

Elaine & Billy - I am torn between two emotions at this moment. In my spirit, I know Ricky is having a time in heaven. He had a special gift & he used it well; the Lord called him home because "He hath need of him". But, on the other hand, Jeannie & I are grieving because we know 1st hand what the "absence" of a child can do. We are praying for you, & your parents & brothers & sisters. May God comfort you & give you peace, Love in Christ...Cliff & Jeannie West
