8/31/05 Update
Friends,
Rick's procedure from yesterday was moved to this morning, so he is currently undergoing surgery to put a ventilator in his throat and will then receive more radiation. Our prayer remains that his neurological function will drastically improve during this week! His Bilirubin was down one point to 28 this morning. We will keep you posted as there is anything new to share. Your prayers and posts continue to be a source of comfort and hope for this family. Thank you for allowing God to use you to minister grace.

I am Brianna Gelzer Wright's mother-in-law. Billy and Brianna have been very concerned about Rick and I have been keeping up with his illness through them and more recently through this web-site. Thank you so much for keeping us informed. My husband and I are praying daily for Rick and feel that God will use his illness and (more) his recovery to glorify Him. Thank you again for the daily updates and we will continue our prayers with emphasis on his neurolgical function.

I know you guys have to be exhausted. I am praying for all of you today, specifically that God will refresh you and show you something very powerful today to renew your hope. A few versus of scripture that you can meditate on for the day:
"I love the Lord, because He listens to my prayers for help. He paid attention to me, so I will call to Him for help as long as I live". Psalm 69:16-18
"I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future. Then you will call my name. You will come to me and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will search for me. And when you search for me with all your heart, you will find me". Jeremiah 29:11-13
Believe, trust and let God lead.

Rick,
The more I read the posts and comments on this site, and the more I realize the impact you have had, and are having on people's lives, the more excited I get...
It’s astounding the way that God weaves and creates the most amazing stories, ones that are barely believable when they’re told. When we are in the middle of the ‘weaving process’ we wonder what God is doing. I believe that is where we are now…
But you see, every handshake you’ve ever given a stranger, every phonecall you’ve made to an old friend, every word you’ve ever sung in ministry, has been a line written into this incredible story…none of it was in vain
And now, years later, after meticulous purpose and planning, God is bringing everyone that’s been a part of that story into the theatre of His glory. And He is waiting until every person is seated and watching, waiting to reveal Himself. With every post, and every prayer, our attentions are being focused, and we’re on the edge of our seats.
You were the one he chose to get us into the auditorium…that, Rick, is an amazing honor. He knows you won’t steal the limelight. You’ve always known that He gave you your talents. These last couple of weeks, the lights have been dim, but that only means that He is about to show…
We won’t believe our eyes.
I truly cannot wait,
Melody

We have been in a constant state of prayer for Rick, Suzanne, and family. We know that God is capable of the exact miracle we are praying for. My prayer is for God to send angels to protect you from the enemy and to guide every decision made by the doctors and nurses. In the name of Jesus Christ we are praying for complete restoration. God can make Rick whole again!!!

We are still praying for healing for Rick. I am praying for strength and hope and love and joy for the whole family as you endure each minute of this trial. We received a second card in the mail from our church that said a team of over 100 people prayed for Rick this week. Remember God's love and that His strength is perfect.

I don't know you but know of Rick thru James David Carter who sang with Rick this summer at big Stuff. My daughter donated platelets this week for Rick for which I was so grateful to see her do this. We are praying for you and the family as we live in Charlotte NC and want you to know that God will keep you in HIS every lasting arms and welcome our praises as we keep trusting HIM for every detail of Rick's life. Praying for your whole family for I know you must be weary. How exciting to look forward to heaven when we will have a new body. AMEN!!

shannon, i love you, girl! post this without edit!
thank you all for your prayers. we feel like we are in the trenches of battle, but there's something that strengthens us in knowing there is an entire army with us! keep on!
i wanted to tell you all to REMEMBER TO PRAY FOR SHANNON AND JEFFREY, along with their children. they are doing so much work for us (rick's family), and i know that Shannon had to take care of a sick child today...never easy, but especially not when you are trying to keep the masses informed! So from me, thanks Shannon and Jeff. You know how much you mean to me!
...let's keep battling.

I pray that God's sweet Spirit would fall on you all tonight. And that He would continue to give you a peace that passes all understanding. That He would allow you to feel his gentle hand guiding you through these hours, days, and weeks. And that you would feel comforted and renewed by a God who is passionately in love with you. I pray for continued strength for each one of you during these times of uncertainties.

We are praying for Rick and family constantly here in Springfield. People who have never even meet him are praying for him because my girls come home from Big Stuf and talk about the band and his name is always mentioned. We just want you to know that we are keeping you all in our prayers, and we know that the Heavenly Father's hand is on Rick right now.

I am going tomorrow to give platelets to Rick. I would also like to buy an orange bracelet (pray4Rick). Does the check-in desk at the blood center have any? If Kelly could bring some to Sonyna Ness, I'm sure she would be glad to help in Rick's cause. Otherwise, I will email Kelly and find out how to get one.
Candi, I just wanted to tell you what a great job you are doing with your messages on Rick's progress. Your strength and faith in God has been a witness to me. Please tell Jeff and Shannon I am praying for Maggie's full recovery.
I hope to meet all of Rick's family at the benefit on Saturday, September 16.

Hey y'all,
That was totally awesome to hear Rick sing that song! That certainly fits what he's going through right now. It was as if God knew he was giong to have to go through this and He had Rick sing that song because He knew He could and would use it to minister not only to you, his family, but all his friends and possibly folks all over the world! What an awesome God we serve! Praise His name forevermore!!!!!!!

The fasting was awesome! What a way to really concentrate on the goodness and power of God. Our eyes are fixed on Him and we know that our prayers will be answered in His time and according to His will. We know He is perfect and does everything perfectly.
Our prayers are with you all.
