8/28/05 Update

Friends,

We remain steadfast in our prayers. The urgent requests over Rick's life have not changed. Your prayers are so encouraging and the Holy Spirit is using them to minister to this family and everyone else that visits this site to learn about Rick. We are so grateful. It gets very hard to wait on God each day. But, as I read in Isaiah 43 this morning, I am reminded of God's faithfulness. Whenever I want to ask "Why God?" or "When God?" He continues to strengthen my spirit with His word. This morning, through His word, God said "See I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?" (Isaiah 43:19 NIV) Although we may not understand, it gives great comfort to know that God is doing a new thing in Rick every day, and this, in turn, is affecting the whole world.

Rick,
You are ever so much in our thoughts and prayers. Especially on this Sunday, everybody at MLC was praying for all of you. Missing you like crazy but knowing that the Holy Physician is taking care of you. We don't know His plan, but we pray for you to be back leading worship at church.
To your family that keeps us informed; your words are so well put down for us to read. You make us feel as though we are their physically with you. As hard as this is, for all that you are going through, thank you for letting us know about Rick.

We had a beautiful fun service this morning. The fellows doing the music are great and God is using them too. However, I couldn't but wonder what Rick would have looked like doing all those retro songs? I can't wait to have him back and meet his beautiful fiance to love her as much as we love Rick.

Rick,
You are continually in our prayers. Your talent goes way beyond any earthly measure. You are the reason our kids loved Mountain Lake. You are still ministering to everyone, even though you may not realize it. Be patient and God will work miracles in His own timing.

Suzanne and Rick’s Family,
We are praying for your continued strength. We know from experience just how going through this is both physically and mentally exhausting. Our family is praying for your strength.

We prayed for you last night at ML, and i have not stopped praying for you everyday. You are always in my thoughts. I wish i knew more words to say or knew the bible better so i could give you verses that are comforting. I am one of the people Rick is leading to Christ through all this right now. Teaching me how to pray, humbling me and leaving me in awe of the faith and love I have witnessed in these postings. Making me realize how fragile life is and forcing me to look at myself and my relationship with God. Rick is still showing us all how to belong, become and build the body. I look forward to the day I can tell him that face to face.
I will continue to pray and believe in a miracle. I know God can restore Rick.

Rick's beloved family,
I just want you guys to know that not a day goes by that I don't pray for Rick and your family. I wake up many times throughout the night with the desire to pray and I also hit my knees many times throughout the day. Please know that we are fighting this battle with you guys. The one thing that can change the Lord's hand are the prayers of His people and boy, does He have many people praying for Rick's complete healing. Today at church, my heart was so heavy with thoughts of Rick and your family but I was encourged as I listened to God speak to me through the message. We were talking about hearing God's voice and how difficult circumstances, as much as we dislike them, often bring us into an intimate relationship with God because we begin to pray as though our life depends on it. Rick's life does depend on our prayers and I know that as we continue to desire God like never before and bow facedown before Him, He will be faithful and will answer the prayers of His people. I've been listening to one of Candi's songs over and over again today and the words she sings are my heart's cry "Oh Great God, be small enough to hear us now." I love you guys and your faith and belief gives me faith and encourages me to keep on believing God for a miracle. We WILL NOT give up!
Much love and prayers your way....Shae

I've posted a couple times that last week we held a day camp and prayed for Rick every day. Our church also holds a KidStuf program each Sunday. Today when we completed our worship a group of kids who attended day camp stopped KidStuf to ask about Rick and wanted to pray for him.
Know that our kids and staff have you on our minds and in our prayers. We're still praying 4 for Rick and praying for 100% healing. We will continue praying for as long as it takes.

Posted by: dyan at August 28, 2005 04:30 PM

Dear Rick,
I went to work at KidStuf this morning and Mike Tamborello was leading us to lift you up in prayer. I was standing next to Lanny and he began to fill me in on your journey. My heart is filled with the desire to let you and your family know what an encouragement you were for me this summer at BigStuf. I remember your kind words and love towards me backstage; As I prepared to go on stage to do the compassion monologue, I sat out front for the musical worship and couldn't remain seated as I watched you worshipping our Father in Heaven. I remember becoming lost in praise for Him, following your lead. You are a Light, Rick, and I praise God for what he is doing in and through you right now. I am praying for you, your parents, your fiance and your family. Know that he has always glorified himself in you, and that He never changes. My Love and God's Peace, Lisa

"Heal me O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me and I shall be saved, for you are my praise. "

We are praying as we did in service today. My family are new to Mountain Lake and have never had the great privilege of knowing Rick however I have 2 children and I know from all that has been told to me God WILL HEAL HIM. So many need Rick to learn from and my children are in that group. God will show us how powerful he is and bring everyone into his arms as he does so many times. This one will be his biggest for your family. Our love and prayers are with you.

We will stand in the gap for you, Rick, for as long as you and your family need us. The impact you had on our family w/ your music cannot be measured because it will live in our hearts forever.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart;do not
depend on your own understanding. Seek His
Will in all you do, and he will direct your
path. (Proverbs 3:5)

We have placed our complete trust in God and pray constantly for the peace that surpasses all wordly understanding...the peace in our hearts that the world cannot give or take away.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto
you: not as the world giveth, but what I give
to you. Let not your heart be troubled,
neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

Our hearts are forever changed because of you, Rick. We will continue to lift you, Suzanne, your family and Mountain Lake Staff up so that you may be surrounded by unrelentless love and prayers.

At times like these all we can do is put our faith in God. Trust that he has a plan. We may not know that plan now. We may never know His plan, but we know He has one. This is probably the hardest thing you have ever gone through, but please know that Ricks condition has brought thousands of us closer to God. There are people praying for Rick that have never prayed before. Sometimes God will use one of His children in an unconventional way to save the lives of others. Even now, while Rick is laying in a hospital bed, God is still working through him. I will continue to pray for Ricks full recovery. "Miracles can happen to those who love the Lord..."

I want to thank all of you family (Suzzane when I say family that means you too!),Jeffrey & Shannon (for the updates!) and pastors of MLC you have all been such a rock for all of us to look to. It should be the other way around. You should be looking to us for strength, but as we all suffer through this difficult time, you remain the strongest. I will continue to pray for you all. We will never fully understand why this has happened to Rick, but I know it has brought myself as well as others closer to God. I am very sorry that it took this to make it happen though. I wish Rick were not in this situation, but I know God is being glorified through Rick and family by your strength.
Rick please keep fighting!

Dear Elaine, Billie, Suzanne, Candi & Family:
I was just watching Pastor Joel Osteen and just kept thinking about you all. His message was on being a Prisoner of Hope and how important it is for us to keep on believing. When you don't see anything changing in your circumstances know that God is always behind the scenes working. That as Luke 1:37 states, " Nothing is impossible with God." God who created this awesome universe and allows it to turn everyday is watching over Rick and loves him more than we could ever imagine. We serve an awesome God! He wants you to keep on believing and expecting great things. "As for God , his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect,. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on heights." Psalm 18:30-33

To Rick's lovely fiance Suzanne and his wonderful family...I know you are putting your hope in our great God! You are showing what it is to have complete and total faith in our Lord. Thank you for the example you are setting and for teaching us all about trust and faith in God. Please know that the ministry team and attenders at Mountain Lake love you all and we love Rick dearly. Keep looking upward, and know that we are with you all during this trial.

Thank you so much Jeffrey and Shannon for keeping this site up to date. Rick is so much a part of our daily lives right now and this site is a great help to all of us as well as those keeping vigil at his side. Candi, I do not know you, but I think about you so often, as a big sister that has been through this too, I know how hard this is for you, but how proud you are of Rick as well. I pray for all of you so often, you are constantly in my prayers.

Rick, like Ruthie, I too was wondering how you would have looked in those sunglasses doing an Elvis imitation this morning! The band is doing great on stage and leading us in worship, but it will never be the same without you Rick - we miss you so very much!!!

But, as we have learned...God's time schedule is often not the same as ours. You have so many people that are praying for a complete recovery for Rick. In addition to that my prayer is that God would help all of those closest to Rick, those of you that are there day in and day out to be able sustain your strength and your courage. God Bless all of you.

I continue to uphold you in prayer as God continually lays you on my heart. This morning I prayed that God would give me a verse for you and He showed me Psalm 108:13, " With God we have the victory..." Our sermon at church this morning was on the fact that with God the impossible is possible!! The God that we worship today is the same God who fed the 5000! He is still able to perform miracles today and I'm praying for one for you.

Rick
Today was a good day in the Lord. Two people at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Enterprise, Alabama got saved. I thought of you. I knew how proud you would be to see this 6 year old come to know Christ. Child like Faith. That is the basics. Sometimes we forget. I have that faith. Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and Faith in you. I have always had that faith in you. Today you blessed my life again while I spoke about you in my sunday school class. They are praying for you. I got tears in my eyes as I spoke of you and your situation. The Lord spoke to my heart today during the worship and praise time. The song Nobody fills my heart like Jesus was sung. Nobody thrills me like You do. Nobody but You. What a song, what a testimony to sing those words. I prayed for you throughout the service and as the message was brought, I prayed earnestly for you. And I share a prayer with you now.
Father in Heaven, Great Healer, Great Physician.
What an aweinspiring event to be in Your house. In Your pressence. Singing Your praises. and Loving The Son. I come to You now. Humbly asking for Your Healing Hand to touch the body of Rick. Purge his body of all the disease. Fill his body with Your healing power. Heal his mind, his heart and his soul. Vanish from him all the things that hinder his body from proper function and fill it with Your Love and Power and Might so that he may regain his strength. I thank you Father that you already have in Your mind, the Perfect plan. The Awesome plan for Your ultimate Glory is already written. Reveal to us, Your children, Your love and mercy. Thank you Father for your Son who paid the ultimate sacrifice for all our sins. I claim healing in the name of Jesus Christ, my Savior, my King, My God and My Lord. A men.
I love you Rick. Keep fighting. Victory is His!!!

Rick and Family,

We are here not growing tired of praying for you and the comfort of your family. We are holding up your arms to God while they have grown tired. Know that we are here and will support your battle as we give it to our Lord and trust his will. He knows we love you and want you back leading us in worship. My faith is stronger as a result of your fight. Bill Snyder reminded me tonight during growth group that we would not need a shield to go into battle if we didn't have a battle going on around us. We all stand united around you with a shield of the body of Christ and faith that his will is perfect for you and your family. I also know that you are are saying to God as Moses did "Here I am" waiting to serve his call. I would love to know, if I were in your position, that I had your support group behind me. We love and miss you Rick.

Dear Rick,
I know of you through one of your high school friends, Hannah. My daughter was her roommate at Auburn. I am keeping you and your family in my prayers and praying that God will hold you in his hands and heal you. Know that there are people all over praying for your recovery.
May God Bless,

Rick,
You probably don't remember me, but I played ball with Candace and your mom was my little league coach. I definitely remember you. You were the cute little boy that ran around the ball field during our practices. I also remember hearing you sing and how your voice touched my heart. I realize that getting a letter from someone you don't even know might be strange, but you could look at it like this; that even though we don't know each other you have managed to touch my heart twice. Imagine what you have done for the people you do know.
God is not through with you yet so hang in there.

Hi, I'm a friend of Beverlee Deans' as well as Skylar Testa. They told me about your remarkable family and the trial you are all enduring at this time. I am writing to let you know that you are, and will continue to be, remembered in our prayers. May God bless your family with peace and happiness, and may He bless you with miracles!

Stay strong Rick!

You're in our hearts!
Sincerely,

Rick and Family,

Although we have not posted until now, know that you have all been in our prayers from the moment we learned of this, and that we will continue to pray for Ricks full and complete recovery.

Rick, you would have been so thrilled about this Retro series - and guess what no Country Music! I can just see you standing up there, acting like Elvis doing "Amazing Grace". Even though you were not there physically, your presence was felt throughout the whole church. It is a new week and God is still working on that miracle we all pray for. Isn't it wonderful to feel God holding you and your family in his arms and telling you to keep on believing and to trust in Him because He has great plans for you. Blessings are being poured out for all of you. Don't give up even though at times it looks bleak. I believe in God and His MIGHTY POWERS. I have seen Him take an impossible situation and turn it around despite of the medical reports and what we see with our own eyes. The eyes of God are seeing this situation differently than we are and He knows Rick has too many things left to do to glorify His name. Remember each day is a new day and a new beginning. I love you all and you feel like my family too.
Love,
Elaine

We're also praying for you daily and wish you all the best. (Tiffany is impressed with the ring and we know you guys are very much looking forward to the big day.) Hey Dad... I just wanted to lift up one of my brothers to your care right now. You know him very well, I mean you did knit him together in his mothers womb and you gave him the talent of music. Oh yeah and that wonderful smile you gave him... You know what... you know exactly what you are doing ... sometimes I don't see it or understand but I thank you just the same. Please be with his family as you are doing your work... My heart goes out to them in this time. Dad I know your timing is always perfect... I do not ask you to rush you work ..but I am in hope and anticipation of seeing Rick restored to 100% as only you can do. Thanks so very much for the "Family reunion" you have made across the kingdom in this time. Nice to know I have so many brothers and sisters our there. Well, I will talk to you in a bit ...Thanks again for everything.

Rick,
I'm still in constant prayer for you. Not a moment goes by where I don't think of you. Every praying person I know, I ask them to pray for you, whether they know you or not. That is an encouragement in itself, that God knows who each person is praying for even if they don't even know. God is teaching me and showing me so many things through this time. Thank you for you testimony brother!

Good morning and glory be to God for another day! I want you to know how much you are loved, Rick but you already know that. I want you to know how God is doing a mighty work through you but I think you know that as well and many prayers surround you and your family as you bear this cross. Jesus said we were to "take up our cross and follow Him" I thank God for you and your family who have done this with such faith, trust and grace that GOD gets the glory. I want to share with you a precious poem that comforted me when I needed it most in my life. I hope the same comfort for you today.

Lean Hard
Cast thy burden upon the Lord and He shall sustain thee. Psalm 55:22
Child of my love, lean hard and let me feel the pressure of thy care;
I know thy burden, child, I shaped it. Poised it in Mine own hand,
And made no proportion in it's weight to thine unaided strength;
For even as I laid it on, I said,"I shall be near and while he leans on me,
The burden shall be Mine, not his;
So I shall keep My child within the circling arms of My own love.
Here, lay it down, nor fear to impose it on a Shoulder which upholds the government of worlds.
Yet closer come, thou art not near enough. I would embrace thy care
So I might feel My child reposing on My breast.
Thy lovest Me? I knew it. Doubt not then; But, loving Me, Lean Hard. - Paul Pasnor
Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you. I Peter 5:7
Today and every day, moment by moment, breath by precious breath, with each heartbeat Rick is sustained by the love and protection of a merciful Father. It is in God's hands right where He wants it to be. He gives us rest in the storm! Teri

Just to let all of you know that Rick, and all of you, are in our prayers. Will forward Rick's situation on to all of those in my address book who are praying Christians. And will encourage all of them to do the same. Next Sunday Rick will be listed on our Church's prayer list in our bulletin. If there is anything I can do, please let me know.

May GOD bless and comfort!
