8/22/05 PM Update
Friends,
Rick is resting, done with procedures for the day. Elaine was able to go back in and talk with him after his radiation and he continued to open his eyes when she talked to him. Needless to say, this is quite comforting for their family. Rick will continue with radiation treatments every day this week. The doctors have not indicated that anything has changed with the other physical situations that are facing Rick. The Bilirubin numbers continue to be the greatest area of concern and your prayers are so appreciated. Thank you for another day of prayers and petition on Rick and his family's behalf. What a wonderful picture of the body of Christ and the sustaining power of prayer.

"For he does great works too marvelous to understand. He performs miracles without number." Job 5:9
It is with that message that we pray with faith! Our God is a big God who understands everything that is going on right now, and in such an unexplainable time, there is such peace in that. My prayer is that we see a miracle happen in Rick's bilirubin levels! That we will see a great work in his body, too marvelous to understand!
You are always in my thoughts and constantly in my prayers!

I am feverantly praying for each of you! You are on my heart at all times. A verse that the Lord gave me in my battle with leukemia is Psalms 118:17 "I shall not die but live and declare what the Lord has done." The doctors words are hard not to cling onto, but my family always had to remind ourselves that the Lord is the great physician, our healer, our jehova raffi. I was given a 10% chance to live the first 2 weeks of treatment. God is so much bigger than the 10% prognosis! He has given me the opportunity to declare His healing in my life. I feel very connected to Rick and his fight for his life. I will continue interceding. May He comfort each of you in His arms. shari

Dear Rick,
I continue praying for you throughout the day...talk about building my personal alone time with God!!! Again, He is working through you to grow others. Rodney played me your song today that you recorded right before getting sick. Rick...it was absolutely gorgeous...the words just blew me away. Rodney, Chad, Sharon and I talked about how great God is and how great He made you!! Keep fighting, so we can be together again as a team...we sure do miss you!
Love you!

"Jesus said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.'" Matthew 9:37-38
Rick, you are definitely one of God's few workers who He has sent out into his plentiful harvest field. I've been to BigStuf as a member of my youth group many times, and I was able to go as a chaperone last year while I was interning at my church. I can't describe to you what your act of worship meant to the kids at my church. You are an inspiration, giving your time, your energy, and your heart to worship God so that youth will come to know Him better. I am praying for you Rick, praying that God can work a miracle in you. All things happen according to God's will. Know this, and know that God loves you. So do I and so many more people. Thank you for all that you've done, and my prayers are with you.

I am praying for you guys everyday. Not a day goes by with me waking up and rushing to the computer to see another update of how God is totally being Himself and working in extremely mysterious ways. In fact, there are days where I check 30-40 times. Not to mention the phone calls from Amber that are amazing.
I, as well as my family, will be in constant prayer for Rick and all of you. Be strong for the Lord, Your God, is with you!!! He's right there, watching over you. Watching over Rick. Not a minute goes by that His eyes are not fixed on Rick. Nothing happens that He hasn't ordained. His will is being made known even as we wait. He is in control.

Rick,
Psalm 91 vs 14 Because he loves me, says the Lord, I will rescue him. I will protect him for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and Honor him "WITH LONG LIFE".
Proverbs 9 vs 11 For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.
I proclaim these verses over you Rick. Our God is a mighty God and his words do not come back void. May you feel the sweet presence of Jesus, and may he touch you and heal you. In the name of Jesus. Amen

Rick and Family,
I have been putting this off for quite sometime because I don't really feel warranted to write something when you hardly know me at all. Yet, the urge will not subside which leads me to believe God desires my obedience. So here are the words I have been wanting to say for awhile. My husband and I know of you guys through Obe and Amber. Obe is my cousin, and it was with great sorrow that I heard of the news. Immediately, my family and I began to pray. In addition, I added Rick to our prayer list at Pace High School where I teach. Everyone there is praying for him daily. We are all believing God for a miracle as are you guys. The next thing is this, each time I think of Rick, I simulataneously think of Candi, and in this memory, I always recall the first time I ever saw Candi sing at the Escambia County Junior Miss pageant. During intermission you sang, "The Lion and the Lamb," and I remember thinking, "Wow that girl has something that goes way beyond the superficiality of this silly pageant." The beauty was not in your voice or your appearance, it was in the sweet presence of the "lamb who was slain and the lion who reigned". It is the same presence that comforts Rick right now. Thank you all for the inspiration you have been to people you don't even know.

Please know Rick, that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I too have been down the road you are, and if there is anything you could ever need to talk about please never hesitate. I am a twenty year old girl from South Jersey, and was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia last August. (I heard about your battle through Brittany Childress whom I started to talk to via email about our conditions.) I feel as if God has intended for me to help others battling the same disease. (So let's stick together!) You seem like such a vibrant young man and I (as well as many others) believe in you 110%!! Stay strong and know we believe in you!!!

My husband and I (as well as the rest of the Georgia Steele clan), are praying for you, Suzanne, and your family. We know God is great, and He is at work in all things. We pray God will restore your health and continue to use you in His ministry, and we also pray that you and your family and friends feel God's peace and His grace, but we suspect you already do. Rick and family,
I was an Alpha Gam with Suzanne at Auburn and heard about Rick's condition through some friends of mine from BigStuf. I just want you all to know that I am praying for you. I have found myself drawn to this website everyday for more news about how Rick is doing. This time in my life has not been the easiest, but I find that reading about Rick, how God is working in this situation, and the tons of prayers that are being lifted up I am encouraged in all areas of my life. Because, through this situation, the Lord has reminded me of how faithful He is and how magnificant and huge He is! Thank you all for your faith and for your strength that has encouraged me. I pray that He continue to give you the strength that comes from Him alone..and for healing over His son, Rick. Oh, and congratulations Suzanne!! I'm so excited for y'all!

What a miracle to hear how respondent Rick was to loved ones voices. I have been coming to MLC for a short time, but immediately felt such a connection there. I have prayed and talked to the Father these last days more than I have in my entire life. Rick does have a light and now I understand what is going on. thank you so much for the updates you will never know how this has changed my life and restored a distant relationship I had with the Father. I will continue to pray for the levels to go down and strength for the family.

Hello dear ones,
I feel a bit melodramatic keeping this so anonymous, but for the sake of the nurse who said this to me I have to respect her confidentiality. I am a friend of a friend of Candi's and have been praying..I also have a dear friend who works not on Rick's floor but a nearby ward of the hospital, her exact words when I asked her if she knew Rick were, "OH my goodness, YES, he is so adorable and has such a wonderful personality. He's a really special guy. He's not even on my floor but I've gathered from listening that he has touched so many hearts of the staff here at the hospital already!!"
Isn't that such an amazing testimony! Glory to God...!! Love and prayers,
A friend of a friend....... :)

I just want you guys to know that you have my prayers. I know that God is "before all things and in Him all things consist". (Col 1:17) That is encouraging to me as I know it is to you all as well. You have been used by our Father in so many ways I know, including being an encouragement to me. Thank you for your testimony and unfailing strength which comes only through the One. Continue on as to bring Him glory and fame.

He is still the Lord that healeth thee! We are praying and expecting the Lord to raise you up, Rick! He is awesome like that. So many times the Lord just uses opportunities like this to get His people praying and you can believe that there are at least 300 of us agreeing in prayer!

Rick, Suzanne, and family,
I'm reminded this evening of a quote "When you get to the place where God is all you have, only then can you realize that He is all you need". I'm believing that God has Rick in this place so that He can perform miracles that no one can doubt or deny. Tonight, I ask again that one of these miracles be total physical healing. I ask another to be continued supernatural power to sustain you with comfort, strength and peace. I pray for Rick to have a peaceful night with rest and comfort. And I pray for good news in the morning.
Bless you Jeffrey and Shannon for the updates. Without them, there would be little hope of peace for me.

Today 30 precious 1-5 graders took time out of their day camp to pray for you Rick. Our day camp theme is based on Joseph and the coat of many colors. Today's topic was faith, but especially that we must have faith that God is sovereign and that he knows and sees the whole plan even when it's cloudy for us. The kids are lifting you up all week and can't wait to hear about how God continues to heal. We're praying for the big number 4!!!

Hi Rick (and the entire Pearson family) -
Just wanted to let you know that we are praying for you tonight - that you will have plenty of peaceful rest, and that tomorrow will bring more good news to the glory of our amazing God! We are praying for a return to normal of your levels, and continued interaction with your family as they come in to visit - and we are so thankful that the God that we bring these requests to has all of these situations firmly in His hands! Please know that you are in our hearts and are being lifted up as our brother in Christ tonight!

How AMAZING is our God!!!!!! Rick your strength and passion continue to minister to me. I am completely in awe of the power of love, both for the Lord and for family. It is that love that allowed you to open your eyes and see your mom and sister today. I pray that the Spirit of the Lord will continue to guide the thoughts, actions, and decisions of your doctors and nurses. I know that when they walk down the hallway of your room they can feel the power of God.
To Rick's family and friends---thank you so much for keeping us posted on how Rick is doing. I know that although we don't know one another personally here on Earth, we are all part of the same family. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that God will give you strength when you feel you have none and He will give you hope when there seems to be none. I love you all---Amy Stewart

Ricky has been on my mind and in my prayers all evening. I was remembering today how when Hillary was growing up and was around 6 or 7 she had the biggest crush on Ricky. He was always so sweet to her and made her feel special. I will never forget how much that meant to her.
A Bible verse comes to my mind tonight which I am claiming for Ricky. 1 Chronicle 4:20 - " Call those things that be not as though they are"
I am calling Ricky's Bilirubin to be in the normal range and calling his liver healed in addition to healing his body.
May God bless you, give you strength and increase your faith every hour.

Elaine,
Awesome news about Ricky recognizing your voice!! I just looked at the pictures of the two of you-and you WILL hold him again! If I've said it once, I've said it a million times (and I have), that's a pretty boy. To God Be The Glory! What a testimony he's going to have. We're praying for all of you.
**Attention Prayer Warriors**
Every hour on the hour I challenge you to physically do something--along with what is already being done (constant prayer) whether it be to:
1. Shout out "4" for Rick (as many times as you want)
2. Honk your horn "4" times
Anything to shake-up satan and bring more glory to God, Himself!!
Maybe, across this great nation, if there's anybody that doesn't know about Ricky and his need for a miracle, they'll ask and they too will began to pray for him.
To the family,
I can't even begin to imagine what you are all going through, but know we are all praying constantly for each and everyone of you. Love you all!!
Psalm 136:4
Only He can do great miracles,
His love continues forever.

Thanks for the awesome example of worship today. Someone was saying that when the legs have come out from under you and you can still stand, God is glorified. He was so glorified tonight! I was so glad to be able to physically hug you tonight after wrapping you in prayer for so many weeks. You guys are on my hearts. I love you so much. Just let me know if you need a little trivial persuit sweet action and I am there. Well I'm there for you with or without the trivial persuit! Love you!

Rick,
This is Brandon from BigStuf. Just got done praying that God's healing hand would be upon you. He is so faithful to do the things that we ask Him for, and I'm asking for him to heal you my friend. One of the great names for God in the Old Testament is Jehovah Rophe and it means "The Lord Our Healer"...He didn't get that name for no reason. I love you man, and I can't wait to hear the good news about how God is going to use all of this.

Elaine, Billy and Family - I am praying for your strength and comfort and peace in the midst of a storm as only our God can give it. I've been checking the updates since I learned last week of Rick's illness. Rick would not remember me, but I am praying for his complete recovery so he can go back to being about the Lord's business as described in so many comments here. God gave our own family a miracle this year. In my heart I know He did and that He still can. It is right to ask a specific prayer and also ask God's will be done at the same time - it's what Jesus did in the garden. My prayer, Elaine and Billy, is that the next time we run into each other at the mall and share quick updates of what our children are up to it will all be good news. I pray for the doctors' hands and decisions regarding treatment, that God will use them as His own hands to heal your son. I gather Rick has quite an impact on people, even from a hospital bed. What awesome loving comments I have read about him. I pray Rick will have a peaceful night with test results heading back toward normal in the morning.
Much love, CM

Dear Precious Family and Friends-
How does a mother watch her 23 yr. old son lying motionless, plugged to so many machines?
How does a mother watch her 21 yr. old daughter kiss the hand and rub the head of her new finance as he lies sedated and still?
How can we watch and be so full of hope and stay encouraged? It's because the power of our LIVING God is so real to us at this time. I am Barbie, Suzanne's mom, and I praise Him for allowing me to share in the fullness of His Holy Spirit in this dark hour.
Precious ones, we have "stepped out of the boat" as Peter did.(Math. 14:24-33) If we consider all the turbulance around (as Peter did) we will sink! Instead, we are so focused on the throne of God that we are experiencing a supernatural calm in the midst of this storm!! Your daily reminders of scripture and prayer really help. We - the Holk family, the Pearson family, the Hardy family- will not be shaken because we KNOW we serve a LIVING God. You are bearing our burden (Gal. 6:2) by helping us stay focused. God bless you all.
Jesus told a parable (Luke 11:5-8) of a neighbor who finally gave his neighbor bread in the middle of the night. He didn't give it because he was his friend. He gave it because he was persistant in knocking at his door. Thank you for knocking. Keep knocking. God is listening.
Coveting your prayers, Barbie Hardy

LORD,
I lift up Rick Pearson to you, an anointed worship leader. Father I ask in the name of Jesus for your healing hand to extend down from heaven and touch Rick's body. You formed him in his mothers' womb, and I ask that you would fashion his liver such that his bilirubin levels would go down to a 4, and that his body would be restored to complete health, without even the chemo. Father I pray that you would restore the family's flagging energy, that you would give them renewed strength for the days ahead. I pray LORD that you would restore Rick's body to even better then new, that he may once again praise you in the sanctuary. Thank-you for your tender mercies.

I have started typing over and over and keep just deleting what I type. I think I finally figured it out. He just wants me to say, brothers and sisters, I love you and I thank you all for what you are doing for Rick. But most of all I want to thank you for what you are doing for each other(the kingdom).
To Rick's biological family, thank you for allowing all of Rick's spiritual brothers and sisters to suffer with you in this time. It takes alot of courage to allow so many you do not know physically to see into your pain and suffering, not to mention allow them to have the same pain and suffering with you.
To Rick, brother I love you, deep cutting, painful at times, love. You know the kind that only God can give to us. The kind were I would do anything for you. The kind were I would go as far as to offer my life to save yours... yeah ... that kind of love.
For the first time in my life I was allowed to see God's love through this time of struggle.
God's blessing is on us all the time, but sometimes it feels like a rare moment to actually experience it.

God's glory is all over your family and He loves you so much to be revealing Himself to you in these ways. I have recently been encouraged by the verses in Ephesians 3:20-21 where we are told that God wants to do exceedingly, abundanly more than all we can think or imagine... I am praying for Rick's levels to come down... I will be praying for that above all else today!

There are so many scriptures that run through my head that I would like to share with you but given we are brothers in Christ they would just be a reminder of God's love which you already know. Good Morning Rick & Family,
I prayed all night and I will continue today. I have pray chains going all over. I am getting constant emails asking how you are. So many people care about you & your family - you are all amazing. God, I ask that you continue to give Rick strength today and bring his Bilirubin count down. That you keep your arms around him and comfort him. I ask that you bring this beautiful boy back to us at Mountain Lake so that we can hear him sing, worship You, and praise You, as he is always encouraging us to do. He has touched so many lives, more than he will ever know. I ask you for strength for his family, for them to remain strong, and keep the faith as they encourage us to do daily. I ask this in Your Son's name, Amen. As Jen Carrozza said "4 for Rick." I am going to pray that all day. I have Growth Group tonight and we will continue praying tonight. Our group has the power of prayer as we have seen many miracles by prayer. Thank you again to your family for making us a part of them, for your updates, and mostly for your faith in God. We love you and miss you.

I can tell by what I have read that God has started a great work in you and He will continue that. When we are sick is it not great to know that we have the great physician on our side who can take any condition and heal it. I pray that today God shows His favor on you and you are restored.

Dear Rick,Suzanne and Family,
Of course you all are in our prayers continually, and I know in my spirit that Rick is being used mightily of God to manifest His glory. The accounts of what He has done recently in the lives of the people who know Rick are proof of that. Donna and I are fully expecting a miracle for his healing. We have prayed that His healing blood will mix with Rick's blood. May the peace of God that passes ALL understanding be with you and abide with you through this time and always.

Rick and Family,
Our prayers continue for all of you. God continues to bless us also as we pray as a body for you. Goals were met and exceeded. Rodney and Chad stopped wearing spandex (huge blessing). And my family and I grow even closer too God as we pray for you and talk to God several times a day. Shell and I are the example of what God can do with a marriage gone bad but you also get to be the example of how God can turn something so bad into such a blessing. It just blows my mind how awesome and how well his plan is thought out. It just can't get any better than perfect. Rick, we love you and lift you up to God as you are weak and pray for his blessing. You are a blessing to all of us.

You have made such wonderful use of the gifts He has given you. We continue to pray for you throughout every day.
Elaine and Billy – I have always thought a lot of you two. Going way back to the Melaleuca days, I admired your character and honesty in everything. I can’t imagine what your days are like right now. With every prayer for Rick, there is also prayer for you to be strong and to have God’s peace and comfort through all of this.

Though my heart aches for Rick and his family in their time of need, It is also full of Hope that we are truly witnessing a Miracle. The Miracle of God's Miraculous Healing Power! So many believers praying for such an amazing young man! It is said-For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in the midst of them- Matthew 18:20 Think of all the people gathered togther reading your story and praying for your complete healing! Rick,
Hey there. So...you don't know me, but I attended Mountain Lake a bit while I was at NGCSU and enjoyed the worship there sooooo much. I have just graduated and moved to athens to be on staff with a college ministry. Just wanted you to know that my roommates and I prayed for you last night and will continue to pray for you (people that have never heard of you before now are praying for you!!..fun huh?). It is so obvious that God has done some amazing things through you already and that even through this experience people are coming to God daily in prayer for you...some of those people might have never come to God daily in prayer for anything ever...so be encouraged..because people are in conversations with God and drawing closer to Him because of you. And that is just so awesome!! :)
With peace in Him,

I told him time after time that I was not giving up on him. WE are not giving up on Rick. He's been talked about & prayed for relentlessly. I will continue to pray...I will not give up...GOD is good & he CAN perform miracles. God bless you.

Dear Mrs. Elaine, Mr. Billy, Candi, Haley, and Rick,
"Oh, praise Him all, His mighty works. There is no language where you can't be heard. Your song goes out to all the earth. Hallelujah..." I can still hear Candi, Haley and Ricky singing "Praise the King." And I still remember the answering machine message that you guys sang to..."There's no one here to answer the phone, so leave a message after the tone and we'll call back when we get home." Rick winning nationals for the song he wrote about and for Haley. The point to this walk down memory lane, is to say that all of you have made a lasting impression on my heart and in my life. Even today with all of its concerns and trials, you all are still revealing Godly faithfulness and strength, "Knowing that all things work for the good" and reminding all of us that God is still in control. Know that I am praying for you all and can't wait till I hear you all sing together again.
