8/22/05 Afternoon Update

Friends,

Rick's radiation is complete and he is resting again. Our prayer is that it has been effective in combating the abnormalities in his brain. Elaine and Candi went in to see Rick this morning and as soon as they spoke, his heart rate increased and he opened his eyes just a small bit as they talked to him. They were very encouraged by his responsiveness. He was heavily sedated again for the radiation treatment and remains sedated at this point. Praise God for these new mercies! Rick's Bilirubin levels are a continuing issue. Please pray for these levels to go down significantly so as not to cause more damage to his liver. They are at 26 now. This is the urgent request at this point. We are so grateful for your prayers and Rick's family talks constantly about the things you all have shared on the website. What a source of comfort you are to them! We appreciate you.

Rick,

Know that as I am at work at a much smaller hospital in Dahlonega, my co-workers are praying and thinking about consistantly throughout the day. We are praying for your bilirubin levels to drop and as with all the other miracles we have seen and as we have seen God at work in so many of the small details, I know that He can bring these levels down as well. Casey and I love you and your family dearly. Keep fighting the good fight Rick.

To Rick and family,
Please know that you all have constantly been on our hearts since we heard the news a few weeks ago. Our family is continually praying for God's hand to be on Rick and you all. Rick is such an inspiration and light to everyone at MLC. Even though the music was great this past Sunday, I missed seeing Rick so much on stage with his guitar, singing praises to the Lord. His walk with God is such a HUGE example for us all. If we can help out in any way please let us know.
God Bless You All,

I just wanted you to know that our whole house here in Auburn is constantly checking our computers to hear how you are doing. We are in prayer for you all throughout the day! It is so neat to see how the Lord has answered the prayers of the many people lifting you up!
I really admire your great faith Rick! You are awesome and I am praying for you!

Just wanted to let you know that there is a constant prayer for you in my heart and my family's. My children have a favorite plastic green frog and on his belly are the words: Fully Rely On God. Rick & family-
Just wanted you to know that I am lifting you all up to our Father constantly. My community group in Mobile is praying for you & your family as well - for healing and peace. Rest in the fact that God is Sovereign and will work all things out for His glory! God is at work, even when things don't make sense, and his mercies are new to us every morning.

"But you, O Sovereign LORD, deal well with me for your name's sake; out of the goodness of your love, deliver me."

A man who prays is a man standing with his hands open to the world. He knows that God will show Himself in the nature which surrounds him, in the people he meets,in the situations he runs into . . .Prayer creates that openness where God can give Himself to man.

Gentle me,
Holy One,
into an unclenched moment,
a deep breath,
a letting go
of heavy expectancies
of shriveling anxieties
of dead uncertainties,
that, softened by the silence,
surrounded by the light,
and open to the mystery,
I may be found by wholeness,
upheld by the unfathomable,
entranced by the simple,
and filled with the joy
that is You.

The following comes from my sister Debbie who lives in Texas:

"Let them know that we are praying for His perfect peace and that they will feel such a strong sense of His presence in each and every hour and their trust in Him will allow them to be still and know that His grace is sufficient, in this, as in all things that seem so terribly unfair. ... I think I remember Rick performing at a North Point concert a year or so ago and thinking what a really handsome guy he is and very talented and that God might have great things in store for him... he looked like he had the whole package....looks, talent, this faith-filled family with lots of connections."

We all are praying for you each to be sheltered under His wing of mercy and compassion by spending that extra time with Him and asking for His peace and comfort during those darkest moments and days.

"And about this thing I made request to the Lord three times that it might be taken away from me. And he said to me, My grace is enough for you, for my power is made complete in what is feeble. Most gladly, then, will I take pride in my feeble body, so that the power of Christ may be on me. So I take pleasure in being feeble, in unkind words, in needs, in cruel attacks, in troubles, on account of Christ: for when I am feeble, then am I strong." (2Co 12:8-10)

Praise God for his goodness and his grace! I'm so rejoicing with you over the mercies God has showered on you this afternoon!

We are ever committed to praying for the bilirubin levels to fall! I have been clinging to scripture as I pray and seeing this as a war with the enemy! God will have the victory! There is no doubt in my mind.

On a personal note: I'm anxiously awaiting the reunion of the "chipmunks" so tell Rick he has a date with me and James David - a world tour is being planned! I have a feeling our comeback will be huge!

"From the ends of he earth I call to You, O Lord. I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe." Psalm 61:2-3

"Praise You, my God! Let the sound of Your praise be heard; You have preserved my life and kept my feet from slipping. For You, O God, tested me; You refined me like silver." Psalm 66:8-10

Celebrating a complete victory!

Dear Pearsons,

I know it's been exhausting to sustain this level of concern and walk this road. Of course, we are praying for you and thinking of Rick throughout the day. As you've shared your desire for God to be glorified in some way through this, just receive encouragement and strength from knowing this is happening. To know of your faith in action and Rick's security in Christ, even in this darkest hour there is ultimately no greater picture of how we can bring Him glory in this life. We're with you. Much love.

My Morning Offering

O God, for another day, for another morning, for another minute, for another chance to live and serve You, I am truly grateful.

Do... this day free me
from all fear of the future,
from all anxiety about tomorrow,
from all bitterness towards anyone,
from all cowardice in the face of danger,
from all laziness in the face of work,
from all failure before opportunity,
from all weakness when Your power is at hand.

But fill me
with love that knows no barrier,
with sympathy that reaches all,
with courage that cannot be shaken,
with faith strong enough for the darkness,
with strength sufficient for my tasks,
with loyalty to Your kingdom's goals,
with wisdom to meet life's complexities,
with power to lift me to You.

Be with me today and use me as You will. Amen.

The familiar passage of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego comes to mind, who refused to bow their knee to anyone other than the One, True, Living God Himself, and were therefore bound and cast into the fiery furnace which was heated seven times hotter than normal.

To the astonishment of the king, he looked in and saw not three, but four men "loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they were not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God" (Dan.3:25)....

"And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king's counselors gathered together, and they saw these men on whose bodies THE FIRE HAD NO POWER; the hair on their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, AND THE SMELL OF FIRE WAS NOT ON THEM" (v.27).

"Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, 'Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him...." (v.28).

You're going to be fine, Rick. Not even the smell of smoke on you when this is all said and done....

Blessed be our God, Whose arm is not shortened that He cannot save.

Our prayers continue to go out for the bilirubin levels to come down. I have several close friends who are in the ministry praying along with my home church back in SC and a friends church in Alabama. You and your family have touched so many of us. I want to do so much to help you, but I know what you need most right now is prayer, prayer and more prayer. My 2 boys ages 10 and 8 are praying such sweet prayers for you and your family. What an opportunity they have to see God working through you. Isaiah 26:3, "He will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trust in you." I can't wait to see you at church again. I had a dream last night. We were all at church and Shawn was like"We have someone very special here today and we think he isn't going to be gone any more..." and out came Rick holding up his guitar and he fell to his knees and just thanked God. And everyone was crying and clapping and cheering. And he started to sing Even When. And I woke up crying. Rick, you are such an inspiration to everyone. God will always take care of you. Always.

We are thinking of you all every day all day long. We were overjoyed to hear that Rick responded to your voices. I know his heart is singing and praising God. My four year old son told me that on Sat. night at the church he heard Rick singing. He was in the classroom but I thought maybe he heard Danny singing at some point.(I was wrong) He said that Rick was at the doctor's(hospital)singing. He said that he was not playing his guitar but he was singing and it was beautiful. I asked him how he could have heard Rick if he was not actually at the church singing. He simply said, "The Spirit". I believe in my heart that he did hear Rick's sweet voice. His words encourage me and I hope they do the same for you. We will continue to pray without ceasing and we thank you for keeping us updated and guiding our prayers for Rick. The Body of Christ is here for you all.

I pray and I KNOW that a miracle from God is coming and I am just waiting to see His glory and power shown once again. The FCA here at Northview keeps you all in prayer constantly and we will not stop until this time of need is over. You are all in our hearts as well as our thoughts. He was my old Bible and history teacher and he was a strong man of God, and we all prayed for super natural healing everyday and about roughly 5 months after he was diagnosed he went back in for a check up and they did a cat scan and they saw that all of his cancer had gone away and I just wanted to tell you this story as an encourgement as to no matter what happens God knows whats best and that prayer really works so no matter what happens I won't stop praying for him, and my thoughtts and prayers are with your family.

Rick and family - I am reminded of what Jesus said "If you have Faith that's no bigger than a grain of mustard seed, nothing will be impossible to you." Our Faith is larger than the mustard seed, but the message is the same, we all have Faith in God and the things He can and will do. I have never lost my Faith in the great Healer and although the days bring forth more challenges, each one has some hope for the next. I read a small book "When it's Time for a Miracle" and one phase I wanted to share with you is "We are all blessed because we believe in the power of God, even though we have yet to see the fullness of its manifestation." Keep believing!

Five years ago my family went through a battle with cancer. My oldest daughter was diagnosed with cancer during her senior year of high school. God did many miraculous things through her illness. She just had year #5 cancer free!

I know that at this moment you can feel the prayers of believers around the world who are crying out for Gods mercy and healing. It is such a comfort to know that God hears our cry, He knows our every need before we know that we have that need. Find your strength and your rest in the Lord. While my daughter and I had to leave our family to be in Houston, TX, I learned to depend on God for every need. Satan would do everything he could to discourage us and cause us to worry, God would continually speak to my heart and remind me that He was in control.

I am praying for all of you to lean on the Lord, He has strong shoulders. Keep your hope in Him. I am praying for Rick and the harsh battle his body is fighting. Don't be afraid to ask questions, makes notes when you think of something you need to know and check the information they give you. I will pray that you have doctors who will be truthful and continue to give you specifics so you will know how to pray. I will pray for your doctors and nurses as they care for Rick. I know that all of you have been an inspiration to the staff at the hospital. Remember to laugh. Allow yourself to cry. God is with you.

Rick & family,

You have heard from both my husband and my son with heartfelt prayers and encouragement. One of the reasons we feel close to this is that I am a Leukemia survivor. When I was diagnosed they spoke about a few years of life but God had other plans - a new drug (Gleevec) has given me health but God has fully restored me. I long to know Him better and I stand firmly on Isaiah 43 - He has called you too by name Rick Pearson and you are precious to Him and so many. I pray for full restoration. In Him, Jyl DuShane
