Updates and Thoughts
Hello friends! I'm sitting in our place in an overcast Los Angeles, California, wishing it would start looking more like Los Angeles! I thought it would be nice to update you all and say hello again from our family.
I wanted to make you aware of a few things. One being a book that Shannon Scott and I are working on. We covet your prayers as we meet to determine what this book should hold and how it will be put together. We want to write about this journey, and a large portion of that journey is this website! So, please keep checking for updates concerning this book and its direction.
Another thing... in the next week or so we should have a date set for the 2nd annual Benefit Concert, and we are extremely excited about this! You guys made the first concert such an amazing success, and we are praying for the same results this time around. We have several ideas for making it special, and we can't wait to go into detail about how your financial support thus far has encouraged and helped so many high school/college students and adults. It's such an amazing testimony to the heartbeat of Christ.
I'd also like to extend an invitation for you to share your ideas with us. We are brainstorming for different fundraising options, and we'd love to hear what you think would be good, or what you would be inclined to participate in. You can leave a comment under this blog, and if you don't want it to be posted to the site, just specify in the message. We welcome your ideas.
Thank you again! You are amazing!
Candi

How awesome to hear from you again, I check periodically and was excited that today there was a message. Im happy you are putting together a book to document all that you experienced through Rick's journey home, and what you so graciously let us experience with you. I think of Rick often, listen to his music, and am always humbled by his life and legacy he left behind. I think of you all as well and wonder how you all are, how you have settled back into a changed life. You are in my prayers as always.

Hello Family-
It is been quite a while since I posted last, but I find myself logging on to the website at least once a week; I'm not sure why...all I know is that my life was significantly changed since Rick's homecoming. I was sharing with some friends just a few days ago that in life I think you have a handful of "defining moments." One of mine happened during Rick's journey and came full circle on the day of his Celebration service. I saw first hand how holy awesome God used a precious young man specifically for His glory...in such an awesome way that my finite mind has difficulty wrapping around it. When I think of the lives that were changed, besides my own, and those whose lives WILL BE changed through this "book", Rick's charities, his music, and the many testimonies from this ride, I am overwhelmed. To the sisters, Ms. Elaine and Suzanne - I have not forgotten you, just as many others haven't. I think of you often and I still pray for you all. I pray for peace, comfort, joy and clear direction, not only in your individual lives, but also as you continue with Rick's ministries. Know that there is at least one person in lower Alabama lifting you up daily to our heavenly Father...please let me know if there is ever anything I can do for you. Persevere...your reward is great.

Hey ya'll I haven't talked to you in a while... I just want you to know how much I love ya'll...I'm sure the word has gotten around that I broke my hand and am not able to play ball right now... I asked my coach if it would be ok to lead our team devotionals and of course he said yes...When I was preparing I came upon Rick's notes when he was the youth pastor at New Life. It reminded me of the stories he would tell and also it was another opportunity to share our story!!!...God is so good!!!...I have missed Rick more than ever lately and I've been thinking about you all...I love you very much!!!

Dear Family,
I came here today because I was feeling down about my grandfather who took a turn for the worst today. I just get such strenght from looking over some of the blogs and pictures and remembering Rick.
I think of your family so often and I'm glad to have the updates here.
I do have an idea for fundraising though....Last year at MLC we did a 5K fun run...I think doing a run in Rick's memory to raise funds for his passions would be a great.
Keep us posted and I cannot wait till the next benefit concert! Last year was awesome.
I am praying for you and Shannon and as always continue to pray for your family.
Love You!
His,
Bridgett

Hey everyone! I check the site often on those long night shifts. I play Rick's song and just chill. Idea for a fund raiser--Golf tournament! I play in these quite often as fund raisers for different groups and they usually go over pretty well. You don't have to be a great golfer to play. It's just for fun. Just a thought. You are in our prayers.

Have been thinking about Rick's family as we enter the Easter Season. What a blessing you have been to the MLC folks. I drive by Rick's last earthly resting place each day and always thank the Lord for Rick's life and those that he touched. Each time I pick up a rubber band to use always think about how he shot them to get our attention. Have a Blessed Easter, and remember our prayers continue for the family.

I am one of the many who did not know Rick or anyone in his family. I still listen to his CD all of the time, I love it and know the book will be just as wonderful. You are all still thought of often. Hoping everyone is well.

Candi,
I'm glad to hear things are well in your life. One night last year I could not sleep, Rick was having a difficult day and my thoughts were on him and the battle ahead. I tip-toed down stairs aroun mid night to check this website and I wound up writing a book thats been in my head for years, I just never found the time to put it it on paper. As I was sitting at the computer thinking that God has a plan and we just never know whats in store... I began writing. I guess you could say that Rick (being the over achiever that he was) forced me to get up and just do it. 4 hours later it was almost complete! I used to tell Casey, Rick and Rodney that they would be the first to get a copy if I ever wrote this book, and the women in their life would thank me! I would love for you to contact me so I can share more! Rick is never far from my family. We listen to him daily! Bless you and yours!
